5 Corrie spoilers for 2025 from villain’s return to Kevin’s cancer news
Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks has teased what's in store for the residents of Weatherfield in 2025 and it's safe to say it's going to be a dramatic year
Corrie is set to be ablaze with drama in 2025, and fans better brace themselves!
2024 has had the audience on the edge of their seats with young Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) dealing out death to her abuser Joel Deering (Calum Lill), while Paul Doreman (Pete Ash) tragically succumbed to MND, leaving viewers reaching for the tissues.
But get ready, because 2025 is promising to be even bigger with a villainous comeback, a Corrie icon’s health battle, romantic escapades, and that’s just the start.
Corrie’s boss Kate Brooks spilled the beans about what’s shaking up the street in the coming year.
All eyes will be glued to the Platts in 2025 with Kate teasing “things escalate massively” for Coronation Street’s darling clan. It’s getting so wild that they’re plotting a “massive stunt.”
She dropped a bombshell about an epic stunt, hinting: “It comes to a massive head in early February when we play a massive stunt which has massive consequences for David [Platt]. In trying to protect everyone, he ends up losing quite a few things that he holds dear.”
There’s also a bit of a shocker as Kate disclosed “somebody does get embroiled in David’s downfall which is quite unexpected”.
As for Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell), there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Kate revealed: “As we go into the new year, Kevin will discover he has got testicular cancer which causes a massive strain on his relationship.”
The soap’s stalwart Abi Franklin is set to encounter some serious strife: “Abi is a really strong character, but she is going through her own turmoil at the same time. We want to tell this really truthfully, we’ve been working closely with MacMillan to make sure that we tell the story right.”
But it’s not just Abi’s inner conflicts that will rattle the screens – her romance with Kevin Webster might hit the rocks. The boss dished: “But ultimately it’s about his relationship with Abi and that is going to truly tested.”
And it seems like Weatherfield could be in for a tidal wave of drama, thanks to more bombshells dropping left, right, and centre. “Abi is going through her own situation as she struggles in the aftermath of a big event that happens in January. She loves Kevin and he loves her, but the temptation comes Abi’s way let’s put it that way..,” Kate added.
Meanwhile, Cupid’s aiming his arrow at several Corrie favourites, promising viewers plenty of passion in upcoming episodes. “There might be a new man for Todd [Grimshaw] – which will come with its own tests and trials and tribulations shall we say,” the soap’s mastermind teased. “He’s been single for donkey’s years and he’s fantastic”.
“Adam [Barlow] and Alya [Nazir] are kind of another romance. It’s a bit of a slow burn, I think they are really interesting to have in the solicitor’s office,” Kate continued.
And for those craving a familiar face, bad boy Rob Donovan is slated for an explosive comeback. Last seen behind bars, actor Marc Baylis is set for a thrilling return, as confirmed by Corrie execs.
“We last left Rob languishing in prison,” Kate shared. “But he comes back to the show, and we think he might be a reformed character. We think he’s seen the error of his ways, whether that’s the case or not, I don’t know.”
However, Rob’s return will undoubtedly cause tension, especially for his sister Carla, who has recently started dating DS Lisa Swain. Kate revealed that Rob’s comeback will spell trouble for the couple, saying: “But Rob definitely comes back and causes a lot of trouble for Carla and Lisa.”
She added: “Just when Carla and Lisa think it’s safe for them to sit down and watch Netflix, Rob Donovan comes along and kind of scuppers all of that.”
Meanwhile, 2025 is shaping up to be a challenging year for Ken Barlow, as Kate confirmed that Cassie Plummer, who previously poisoned Ken, will continue to plot against him. Kate praised Cassie’s dynamic with Ken, saying: “Cassie is great to have in the Barlows, she causes so much fun and I love her relationship with Kenny. There will be a lot more of that.
“The friendship is genuine and real, but Cassie has had a bad life and a terrible upbringing. She’s made mistakes in the past and sometimes it’s hard to shake off that persona and that’s what we’ll see with Cassie.”
Kate teased that Cassie will be torn between her good and bad instincts, saying: “She’ll be struggling with the kind of the good angel and bad angel on her shoulder and which way is she gonna go? But ultimately she does stir up a lot of trouble and a lot of bother. So, Cassie and Ken keep your eyes on them two because it’s gonna get good!”
