Betsy strikes a deal that puts her life in serious danger in Coronation Street

Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) was previously the scourge of Coronation Street as he made young Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall)’s life a living hell.

More recently he’s seemed to be trying to make amends and get his life back on track, something that Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) was trying to help him with.

But when you come from a troubled background like Mason’s it’s difficult to shake of your past and the arrival of his brothers Logan (Harry Lowbridge) and Matty (Seamus McGoff) in his life have added a whole heap of trouble for Mason – and others in the Street.

And in upcoming episodes it’s Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) whose neck is on the line after she makes a risky bargain with Logan and Matty.

When Sally (Sally Dynevor)’s mother’s ring recently went missing, Mason seemed to be the chief culprit as Tim (Joe Duttine) had befriended him and allowed him into their house to sleep on the sofa and have a shower after discovering he’d been sleeping rough in their summerhouse.

Tim soon realised that Mason was scared of his brothers and wondered whether they were behind the theft, and Sally called the police.

After being questioned and released, Matty threatened Mason for grassing him up, pinning him against a wall.

Tim appeared and said that it was him who’d made the call. Sally and Tim soon found the word ‘grass’ sprayed on their front door.

Mason saved Tim from being beaten up by his brothers by telling them that it wasn’t Tim that grassed them up. This left a very big target on Mason’s back as he knew his brothers would now turn their violent attention to him.

In upcoming episodes Betsy is also targeted as Logan and Matty corner her and steal her phone. Betsy’s response to this is unexpected.

Rather than telling the police – her mum Lisa Swain, basically – what happened, she decides to make a bargain with the brothers.

She tells Mason that he no longer needs to fear Matty and Logan because she’s sorted it all out by making a deal with them and their side of the deal is that they’ll leave Mason alone.

Mason is horrified. He knows Betsy is being naive to trust a word his brothers tell her, and he knows that he ‘deal’ will end up making things a whole lot worse for him – and could put Betsy herself in huge danger.
