Coronation Street’s Fiz Dobbs left upset after return to Weatherfield
Her first days back are tough.
Coronation Street’s Fiz Dobbs is to be left upset following her difficult return to Weatherfield.
Fiz has been away from the Street since May last year, when she left to take up a new temporary supervisor role in a factory in Norwich.
Next week though she will finally come back to the cobbles with husband Tyrone after he joined her while she went on a course in Italy.
Fiz’s return won’t be smooth sailing as Number 9 is rather crowded at the moment, with Evelyn and Cassie Plummer’s rows leading her to declare that they can’t both stay living in the house.
But the living arrangement isn’t the only tough situation that Fiz has to deal with in her first days back in Weatherfield.
When she returns to work at Underworld, she tries to impress boss Carla Barlow with some new ideas that she picked up during her time in Norwich in the hope of progressing her career further.
However, in scenes that will air on Friday, March 8, a despondent Fiz tells Tyrone that she’s failed to get a promotion at work, despite her bright ideas. She also complains to her husband that her daughters Hope and Ruby seem to prefer the company of Evelyn and Cassie, following her long absence from their lives.
Worried about Fiz, Tyrone tells Evelyn how she’s feeling sidelined and that she’s concerned her children don’t need her anymore.
Evelyn takes action and encourages Ruby to read out her monologue about her role model to her mum. Will this give Fiz the boost she desperately needs?
Claire Sweeney, who plays Tyrone’s mum Cassie, previously teased what Fiz’s return would mean for the dynamic between the family members.
She said: “I don’t know how Cassie is going to feel but personally, I’m really excited to work with Jennie. I love [her].
“It’s going to change the dynamics in that house. I would say you’ve got three strong women in that house, including Hope, and there is another one coming into the mix – it is Fiz’s house and Fiz’s family.”
