Coronation Street spoilers: Gail’s final episode, Cassie’s plan for Ken and Carla health fears

New Christmas spoilers have been released for Coronation Street, and there’s plenty to keep us glued to the ITV soap.

Of course the main focus is the exit of legend Gail Platt, as icon Helen Worth bows out after 50 years. But the Platts all seem to have key storylines moving towards the new year, and they’re not alone.

Several of our big characters will take centre stage this December, with some worrying storylines on the way and some big decisions. Some epic new images have teased what’s ahead, and they could provide some worrying updates too.

So let’s start with Gail who is set to bow out on Christmas Day after five decades. A new image shows her looking flawless in her wedding outfit, but will she get the chance to wear it down the aisle?

It’s teased her son David Platt will become obsessed with trying to derail her wedding to Jesse Chadwick. But will the family let her have her happy ending?

And as the Platts start a new era without their beloved matriarch, will they be able to cope? Pictures tease the big day in a first look at her final episode, and some of her final scenes – but fans will have to wait until the episode to find out how she leaves.

Gail’s son Nick Tilsley continues to remain unaware that ex Leanne Battersby has rumbled his romance with her sister Toyah Battersby, after she recently uncovered their affair. Leanne is out for revenge this Christmas, but her plotting could have very serious consequences for Toyah who will end up facing prison for fraud.

But how far will Leanne go, and will Toyah and Nick learn the truth? Christmas will see an almighty showdown between the Battersby sisters.

Another of Gail’s children left facing drama is David, amid his plan to stop the wedding. His own marriage is on the edge after his lies were exposed, while he will remain unaware that wife Shona Platt has cheated on him with Kit Green.

That could be the least of his worries, as the truth about him stealing Damon Hay’s money comes to light. Damon’s villainous brother Harvey Gaskell appears to uncover what he’s done, leaving David in debt – but could he be in danger?

Gail’s granddaughter Bethany Platt also remains in turmoil following on from her botched surgery ordeal a few months ago. As she continues to try and move forward, adjusting to life with a stoma, she faces heartache after her partner Daniel Osbourne gives her reason to suspect there’s something going on with his ex Daisy Midgeley.

With a love triangle set for the trio, Daniel sets out to prove his love for Bethany, with a festive proposal, while it emerges he could be harbouring feelings for ex Daisy. Daisy herself has a new love interest in Kit, but it’s revealed she gets a huge surprise of her own.

Then there’s Swarla who prepared to enjoy their first Christmas together after giving romance a go. As Carla Connor and Lisa Swain go from strength to strength, a number of obstacles could get in there way including Lisa’s teen daughter Betsy.
