Lisa Swain’s struggles with jealousy as Carla Connor hides their relationship in Coronation Street
LISA Swain’s struggles with jealousy as Carla Connor hides their relationship in Coronation Street.
The two women recently saw their friendship blossom into passion, much to Coronation Street fans’ delight.
The couple – nicknamed Swarla – had been growing close for months before finally hooking up.
However, the path to happiness has already proved bumpy, with Carla being hospitalised after an attack and Lisa still dealing with the death of her wife, Lisa.
They are also keeping their new romance under wraps, but that is something that Lisa becomes increasingly unhappy about in upcoming scenes on the ITV soap.
Carla and Lisa meet up at the Chariot Square Hotel for a spa afternoon, and Debbie remarks it’s nice to see friends enjoying a spa day.
But when Carla doesn’t correct Debbie, and explain that they’re actually dating, how will Lisa react?
The detective is irked even more when later on, Izzy and Sarah reveal that Carla’s got a lunch appointment with a very handsome client.
She manages to mask her discomfort initially, but once the meeting begins at the bistro, Lisa watches jealously as the client flirts with Carla.
Will Lisa let her jealousy get the better of her?
Either way, their relationship risks being exposed as when Kirk plugs in the Christmas lights and causes a power failure, Carla tells the factory workers to take the afternoon off.
After being kicked out of the Rovers for bringing their own alcohol, Bobby invites Kirk and Fiz back to the flat to carry on drinking.
But the trio get a shock when Lisa emerges in her dressing gown. Is Carla and Lisa’s relationship finally revealed?
Teasing Swarla’s relationship becoming common knowledge, Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks said recently: “[The relationship] becomes public knowledge during Christmas.
“They are happy during the Christmas period. Carla initially flinches a little bit at the idea of people gossiping.
“It’s not about sexuality, but she’s a bit unsure. But once she realises everyone is absolutely fine about it, then it’s all systems go.
“Christmas will be when they really commit to each other, when they declare how they feel for each other.”
