GAIL Platt’s exit storyline has been revealed as she leaves Coronation Street on Christmas Day after 50 years.
The ITV soap will shine a spotlight onto the infamous Platt family as viewers prepare to say goodbye to the long-running character.
At number eight, Coronation Street, Jesse (John Thomson) will confide in David (Jack P. Shepherd) that he’s managed to conceal the last of Damon’s secret stash of cash.
Although Sarah (Tina O’Brien) planned to use it to pay for Bethany’s (Mia Cookson) medical bills after her botched stomach surgery, but David got his hands on it first.
However, Gail (Helen Worth) will spot the pair in conversation and she soon becomes interested in the topic of their talk.
Jesse completely panics and he blurts out that he told David how he’s booked them a luxury honeymoon in the Maldives.
Gail’s mother Audrey (Sue Nicholls) is at her wits end as she issues an ultimatum to her daughter.
Feeling unable to hold her tongue, she will tell her that if Gail goes ahead with the marriage to Jesse, she will never see her again.
Tensions will then run high for the platt family at the couple’s farewell party in The Rovers Return.
Audrey will still refuse to give Gail her blessing, and she will even resort to one final desperate measure to get her to stay on the street.
She will reveal that Jesse and David have been secretly plotting behind her back.
With this last ditch attempt to halt the nuptials, how will Gail react?
She will be left upset and utterly exhausted as she will drift in and out of sleep on the sofa.
However, Gail will be startled by a surprise visitor to her home, but will they be able to help her make her decision.
Meanwhile, Toyah (Georgia Taylor) will try to help and setting up the reception for the wedding at the Bistro.
She explains to Nick (Ben Price) that Leanne (Jane Danson) allowed her to attend the anticipated occasion before the guests start to arrive.
They receive a surprise visit from the police as they tell the Nick and Toyah they have questions about an allegation of fraud.
Kit (Jacob Roberts) shows Nick the account from TLH Holdings, who insists that this is the first he has seen of them.
Toyah and Leanne then become embroiled in a row at the station as their fight escalates, an incident which is filmed by Max (Paddy Beavor).
As the wedding turns into a nightmare for the residents, will Gail leave Weatherfield with a husband or will she say goodbye to her feuding brood on her own?
