Coronation Street spoilers: Fiz Stape and Tyrone Dobbs split as they are hit with a fresh blow?

Fiz and Tyrone Dobbs (Jennie McApline and Alan Halsall) have been through a lot of ups and downs in their time together on Coronation Street.

There was Tyrone’s fling with Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu). There was Fiz marrying Phill Whittaker (Jamie Kenna). There has been the ongoing problem that is their difficult daughter Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) and her ongoing fixation with her serial killer father.

Finally they realised they were better together than apart and got married on Christmas Day 2022. The day didn’t go exactly smoothly, but eventually they tied the knot and it seemed like it would be happily ever after for the couple. Or as happy as soap couples ever get, at least.

Then Jennie McAlpine discovered she was pregnant and the show had to find a way to explain her absence while she was on maternity leave.

Fiz was promptly dispatched to do a supervisory job in a factory in Norfolk and she’s been there ever since, while being occasionally glimpsed on a zoom chat.

Meanwhile a lot has changed in the Street while she’s been away. The biggest thing that directly concerns her was Tyrone’s long-lost mum Cassie (Claire Sweeney) turning up.

Drug addict Cassie wanted to settle down and get to know her son and her grandchildren, but this has often been difficult.

Cassie’s chaotic personality brought a lot of trouble although she usually meant well.

Her often difficult relationship with her mum, Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) – who wasn’t as easily charmed by Cassie as Tyrone was – has even led to Evelyn being in trouble with the police over things Cassie has done.

So when Fiz returns in upcoming episodes she’s pitched right into the middle of this as both Cassie and Evelyn are living at number 9. It’s not ideal, and Fiz tries to get Tyrone to make a decision about which of the two should stay and who should go.

Not only that, but Fiz finds it difficult to pick up where she left off in her daughters’ lives.

Both Ruby and Hope (Billie Naylor) have bonded with Evelyn and Cassie while their mum has been away, and Fiz is convinced that they’d rather spend time with their gran and great-gran than her.

Even worse for Fiz, she’s full of ideas that she picked up at the Norfolk factory and tries to get Carla (Alison King) interested. She’s hoping for a promotion, but she’s disappointed when Carla doesn’t seem that impressed.

With Fiz’s return feeling like such a damp squib, it obviously puts a strain on her relationship with Tyrone. Can they weather this storm like they have so many others?
