Coronation Street issue same response as they point out ‘next Gary Windass’
Coronation Street viewers have confessed they ‘hate to admit it’ as they’ve done a 180 on a relatively fresh face on the cobbles, dubbing them the “new Gary Windass”.
Devotees of the ITV soap are well aware that David Platt has been harbouring numerous secrets, with one of the most significant being his theft of Harvey Gaskell’s money. This was the cash that Damon Hay, his brother, had offered to David’s ex-girlfriend Sarah Platt when her daughter Bethany required assistance after a disastrous cosmetic surgery procedure in Turkey.
In episodes aired last week, David was livid, not only because he had to share his birthday with Christmas and his mother Gail Platt’s sixth wedding day to Jesse Chadwick, but also due to feeling abandoned by his mum’s plans to depart Weatherfield.
However, his attention was quickly diverted when his nephew Harry, Sarah’s son, appeared from his bedroom clutching a wad of £20 notes that he’d discovered in the wardrobe – money viewers know David pilfered from Harvey.
Jesse covered for David, claiming he was saving for Shona’s Christmas present. Later, he persuaded David to agree to a deal to offload the cash without jeopardising the funds needed to purchase the house, leading to an agreement between the two, reports the Manchester Evening News. The pair then stood in the shadowy garden of No. 8, exchanging the money.

However, on Wednesday night’s episode of Corrie (December 18), Matty and Logan Radcliffe began stirring up trouble for David, accusing him of stealing the money. Despite his denials and attempts to dismiss the troublesome duo, he found them in a closed salon with his grandmother Audrey Roberts.
Swiftly escorting them out, he confessed that he’d already used the money as a deposit for a house. But Matty and Logan threatened harm to Audrey if they didn’t receive their money back.
David attempted to retrieve the money from the house deposit, but when this proved unsuccessful, he devised a new strategy.
While out collecting wedding rings for Gail and Jesse, David rendezvoused with Matty and Logan, proposing to repay them in instalments, starting with the rings. He then persuaded them to assist him in staging a robbery. Upon returning home with a bruised face, Jesse and Shona were shocked.
He claimed that he was attacked by four lads on e-bikes and had already reported the incident to the police. However, Shona quickly saw through his lies and confronted him, forcing him to admit the truth.
Shona then went to the pub where she asked DC Kit Green to handle Matty and Logan unofficially. She blackmailed him into cooperating by revealing her knowledge of his cover-up regarding Daisy Midgeley’s involvement in the accident that resulted in her broken arm.
Kit’s actions towards Matty have placed his career in jeopardy, as he was seen intimidating Matty and telling him to steer clear of David and the Platts. This sparked a change of heart among Corrie viewers who had originally given Kit the cold shoulder.
One social media user tweeted: “Kit might be the next Gary windass, I hope he gets what’s coming to him soon though.” Another added: “Kit is actually one of the best additions to the show this year.” Meanwhile, a third expressed enthusiasm, writing: “Kit is absolutely brilliant I’m so invested.” A fourth gushed: “This actually made me like Kit.” While a fith person admitted their conflicted feelings, posting: “I hate to say this but I’m beginning to quite like Kit.”
