Fans of Coronation Street are sure there’s something going on with Rob Donovan, and that he might be up to his old tricks.
Wednesday night’s episode saw the killer reunited with his sister Carla Connor for the first time in years, with her visiting him in prison. Carla had refused to see her sibling, but Rob’s son Bobby urged her to reconsider so that she could see for herself that he was a changed man.
Rob had claimed to son Bobby he had found religion and wasn’t who he used to be. Claiming to be turning his life around, he even agreed to be a kidney donor for his sick sister Carla, which she struggled with.
As the pair had a long-awaited catch-up on Wednesday night, Rob gave Carla the same claims of how he was a different person. But with Carla unsure, ahead of her agreeing to Rob possibly being a donor, she wasn’t the only one questioning Rob.
Viewers watching at home were convinced there was more to his story, and that he had an agenda. Many viewers took to X to share their theories, convinced they knew exactly what he had planned.
Fans believe he has no intention of helping Carla and is instead looking for a way to escape prison. One fan posted: “Anyone else think Rob is planning to escape from the hospital and has no intention of donating a kidney to Carla?” Another agreed: “So many people have said this so yes,” as a third said: “Absolutely that’s why he had to set Bobby up to convince her.”

It comes after fans suspected he and prison guard Mandy were up to something. It didn’t take long for fans to believe she was acting strangely though and seemed “dodgy”.
A scene in particular where she gave Rob a Bible left fans sure something was going on. They predicted a note or an object was smuggled to Rob via the bible, and that she might be working with him.
Amid fans predicting Rob might plot to flee, they took to X to share their theories on whether Mandy was a corrupt officer. But could she be helping killer Rob?
One viewer posted: “That female prison guard is dodgy af and is in on it. She probably smuggled a note or something to Rob in that Bible.” Another viewer agreed: “I agree! She gave him the Bible and looked dodgy, was in the visiting area looked dodgy.”
A third fan wrote: “She’s definitely in cahoots with Rob. Which is why I think she’s going to do his bidding outside buy watching Carla and family and reporting back to Rob.” A further theory on the possible twist read: “I’m calling it now! Rob is having it off with the female prison guard! When it’s time to go the hospital to donate the kidney to Carla she will be one of his guards and will help him escape!”
