Coronation Street fans 'work out' Max's exit storyline after actor quits - and it's deadly

Coronation Street viewers reckon they’ve sussed out how Max Turner will bid farewell to the show, following the announcement that actor Paddy Bever is bowing out.

Since 2021, Paddy has stepped into Max’s shoes, succeeding Harry McDermott who had played the role since 2010. However, this week saw Paddy announce his departure from the soap as he seeks to “explore new opportunities”.

In the series, Max has been looked after by his stepdad David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) after his mum Kylie’s (Paula Lane) demise in 2016, residing with David and the rest of the Platts at No. 8 on the iconic street.

Max has found himself at the centre of several major plots too – not least the jaw-dropping whodunnit last year involving Joel Deering (Callum Lill). But now, Max’s stint on the soap is drawing to a close, with Paddy confirming his exit just this week.

Max is leaving the soap

The 22 year old actor described leaving Coronation Street as “an incredibly difficult decision” after a four-year run. Paddy has already wrapped up filming his final scenes, and it’s expected that his character’s departure will be broadcast early this spring, reports Lancs Live. Fans are now buzzing with theories about Max’s exit from the renowned cobbles – and it doesn’t seem promising for him.

The soap is prepping for a fiery spectacle come February – with whispers that Max’s abode, The Platt residence, will be engulfed in flames. Some fans are bracing themselves for the possibility that Max might perish in the blaze.

Speculation is rife that Paddy Bever, who brings to life the character of Max on ‘Corrie’, isn’t long for Weatherfield. A Corrie aficionado speculated on a Facebook fan page, “It’s now become apparent that Paddy Bever – who plays Max – will be leaving Corrie soon. Will his departure be as a result of the fire which engulfs the Platt residence?”

A fellow fan nodded in agreement, adding their two pence: “I think he’ll die in the fire at the Platts’ gaff.” Another fan weighed in with their prediction: “Yeah feel like he is going to die in the house fire. Then Lauren and Betsy could bond over their dead (ex) boyfriends.”

Paddy himself put an end to the gossip by confirming his Coronation Street exit to The Mirror: “After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way.”

He further added: “It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories.”
