Coronation Street legend ‘set to return to ITV cobbles’ as Fiz reunites with family
Coronation Street fans were over the moon to see fan-favourite Fiz Dobbs return to Weatherfield last month, but now AI has warned she may not be the only family member to return
Coronation Street favourite Cilla Brown is set to follow in her daughter’s footsteps and return to the famous cobbles, according to AI.
Loyal ITV fans of the long-running soap will remember doting mum Fiz Dobbs left the street last May for a higher paid job as an Underworld supervisor at a branch in the heart of Norwich. In the meantime, actress Jennie McAlpine took a well-deserved break from the soap to welcome her third child, a little girl named Doris.
Last month the fiery redhead returned to the show after 10 months away from the street. It’s fair to say the loveable character knows how to make an entrance, when Fiz and Tyrone (Alan Halsall) came home to find Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) and Cassie (Claire Sweeney) in the middle of a row.
As the doting mum settles back into life on the cobbles, fans have been asking if her loveable mum will return too. Daily Star has quizzed one of the world’s most popular artificially intelligent ‘creative’ tools, Gemini, to expose other beloved characters set to return to the soap this year.
When asked who could return to the longest-running soap, the AI system predicted Cilla (Wendi Peters) could reunite with her family in Weatherfield once more. It teased: “Cilla Brown’s return to Coronation Street is a possibility.
“Wendi Peters has expressed interest in coming back. She could return to the soap for a special one-off appearance.” Cilla has always been the life of the party, and certainly caused trouble during her time on the show after she met Les Battersby in the Rovers.
The couple went on to tie the knot to the cheeky chap in 2005 in arguably one of the most explosive weddings the soap has ever seen, which was even gate-crashed by Status Quo. Mum to Fiz and Chesney Brown, Cilla left her life behind in 2007 in a shocking exit.
The blonde bombshell, 55, made one brief return to the cobbles in 2014, but since then the doting mum has been referenced onscreen with Tyron often visiting his absent mother offscreen over the years. It comes after the star joked “Chesney is dead to me” after her character was snubbed from his wedding last year.
Despite leaving the show over 15 years ago, it seems Wendi is still up-to-date with current storylines – so much so that she’s not too happy her character was banned from the wedding. Speaking exclusively to Daily Star at the British Soap Awards, the actor hinted that Cilla could make a comeback in the future.
She told us: “Never say never, and Cilla is always talked about. But Chesney just got married and he didn’t invite his mother, did he?” she mused before quipping: “He’s dead to me, Chesney’s dead to me.”
Recalling her time on the show, Wendi said: “It was such happy memories and I had such a great time there, it almost felt like Sam (Chesney) was my son because he came in at such a young age and he grew up with me.
“When I come back in Manchester I see them and I catch up with them.” Fans will have to say tuned to see if the loveable mum will make a return to the TV show in the near future.
