Coronation Street fans think they have rumbled a missing Lauren Bolton twist.

Only recently, troubled youngster Lauren abruptly left the cobbles and love interest Bobby has been left concerned after he found her flat unlocked with Lauren nowhere to be seen after her earlier claims that she was going to flee Weatherfield.

Soap fans never saw Lauren leave and it seems she told no one close to her of her plan aside from Roy Cropper given she immediately vanished. In recent episodes, a concerned Bobby called at Lauren’s flat again to find no answer, so he he headed to the police station to report her missing.

PC Craig Tinker promised to make some enquiries and called at the café to investigate Lauren’s last known movements. Later, Bobby was left unconvinced as Roy explained how he caught Lauren going through Bethany’s bag and he had to let her go, revealing when he called round with her wages, she was talking about moving away to start a new life. On Friday night, Bobby only got more and more suspicious of Roy, especially when he found him cleaning Lauren’s flat.

In upcoming scenes, DS Lisa Swain makes a return as she gets heavily involved in the case with the character, who has appeared on and off since 2021, set to become a Cobbles regular. As DS Swain investigates the disappearance, fans will see the finger of suspicion fall upon both Daniel Osbourne and Roy with the latter arrested in shock scenes as he’s accused of killing Lauren.

However, fans aren’t convinced that Daniel or Roy are suspicious at all, instead claiming that Bobby could be involved in the disappearance in a shock twist. On Friday’s episode, viewers questioned why Bobby was going to Lauren’s flat despite knowing she’s missing and later during a chat with Carla Connor, he said: “I just find it hard to accept the fact she’s not coming back”, leaving fans even more suspicious over the use of past tense.

Taking to social media, one person said: “How would Bobby know that Laurens not coming back, does he know something?” to which a different account put: “Why did Bobby go to Lauren’s flat when he knew she was missing?”, another wrote: “It was strange how he said to Carla, oh I liked Lauren I can’t believe she’s not coming back, he was talking in past tense” while another speculated: “I believe he is trying to implicate Roy.”

It comes as fans are convinced Bobby’s dad, Rob Donovan, could be making an explosive return. Soap fans will recall that Rob killed Tina McIntyre back in 2014 when he chased her onto the balcony of the Builder’s Yard. When she tried to leave, he pushed her and she fell off the roof, with Rob convinced he killed her. With Tina still alive, he attacked her with an iron bar but she survived that attack and was rushed to hospital as doctors tried to save her.

Marc Baylis – who played Rob – departed his role soon after when Rob was jailed for Tina’s murder. With Corrie revisiting the past storyline recently, some viewers are convinced this could mean a return for Rob on the cobbles. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “After all this talk tonight… Rob has to be coming back in 2024 he just has to be! #Corrie”, a different account put: “Should Corrie bring back Rob? #corrie #coronationstreet” while another added: “Bring Rob Donovan back #Corrie.”

It also comes as newcomer Jack Carroll teased that viewers can expect a “blockbuster” storyline for his character Bobby. Talking to the Mirror and other press last year about a huge 2024 storyline, the actor said: “I only found out yesterday the kind of nuts and bolts of what the story is, and it’s very, very exciting. I would even go so far as to say blockbuster.

“There’s always a little bit of apprehension, because I’d only been there a week or a couple of weeks, and then I found out that I was going to be a part of this massive storyline. But I think after that dissipates a little bit, then you’re just very excited to get stuck in, and that’s where I’m at now, I just can’t wait to get working and expand on the character, and see what craziness they put me in.”
