Todd’s romance story kicks off in Coronation Street and he catches sight of someone

Unlucky in love Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) could finally find some positivity in upcoming Coronation Street episodes, as he heads to a singles night.

Todd hasn’t been in a long-term relationship for years. When he returned to Weatherfield in 2020, Todd became very focused on splitting Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) up.

His plan to get his ex back ended in utter disaster though, as the truth was exposed in front of a number of Weatherfield residents, leaving Todd humiliated.

Last year, there was a glimmer of a new romance for Todd when he started hanging out with Moses (Michael Fatogun), Paul’s carer.

Unfortunately, when Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) spotted Moses with Todd, she thought he was skiving, and then took action by calling his boss and making a complaint.

Due to the other people making complaints about lateness – something that only happened as a result of Moses caring for too many people – he was let go, later telling Todd he’d be moving to London.

In upcoming episodes, Debbie (Sue Devaney) approaches Todd and Billy and tells them to attend the singles night at her hotel. It takes some convincing, but eventually Billy agrees to go with Todd.

When they arrive, it isn’t long until a couple of men offer to buy them some drinks. This makes poor Billy panic, so he hurries out.

As George (Tony Maudsley) berates Todd for dragging Billy along, he’s distracted due to catching sight of someone.

But has Todd spotted someone that will lead to happiness at last for him?

The character will be involved in another storyline in the not too distant future, which will see his mum Eileen (Sue Cleaver) leave Weatherfield.

This narrative will also see Eileen’s sister Julie (Katy Cavanagh) return.

‘We’re delighted to have the inimitable Julie Carp back on the Cobbles,’ producer Kate Brooks said.

‘As the ever lovable Julie breezes back into the lives of the Grinshaws, not everything is quite as it seems, and Julie’s secret sets off a chain of events that has huge ramifications for Eileen.

‘Katy has slipped back into Julie’s shoes with such ease that it’s like she’s never been away, and we can’t wait for the audience to watch Julie’s story unfold; a story full of love, laughter and tears.’
