Coronation Street icon makes big return to Weatherfield after 15 years
Violet Wilson (Jenny Platt) is making her grand return to Coronation Street next week as son Dylan’s (Liam McCheyne) court date approaches.
Violet was barmaid at the Rovers Return for four years, but moved to Clapham with boyfriend Jamie Baldwin (Rupert Hill) in 2008 to escape Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) who wanted a role in the upbringing of their son.
Dylan was conceived as a result of a pact made between the friends, who agreed that if they were both single and childless at the age of thirty they would have a child together.
Having suffered an ectopic pregnancy earlier in the year, Violet was thrilled, but when Sean went behind her back to discover the sex of the baby it became apparent to him that she was planning on raising him with Jamie instead.
After their engagement, Sean tried to stop the couple leaving with Dylan and threatened legal action, but it was too late – Violet threw her phone out of the car window when driving along the motorway towards London.
Their fractured relationship continued through to 2011, the last time we saw Violet, when Sean went to visit them.
In recent years, Dylan has moved back to Weatherfield to live with his dad and has been embroiled in a huge storyline that has seen him peer pressured into bullying neighbour Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall).
The cruel ordeal has been spearheaded by Weatherfield High student Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan), who in dramatic scenes wielded a knife at poor Liam.
In last week’s episodes, Mason planted the knife on Dylan and he was arrested for being in possession of a weapon.
When he thanked him for taking the wrap, Dylan admitted that he had confessed all to the police about his involvement.
This week, a lifeline is thrown to the teen when officers tell Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) and Gary Windass (Mikey North) that Mason has been charged with threatening with a bladed article and is likely to receive a custodial sentence.
With the court date fast approaching, Sean admits to Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) that he hasn’t told Violet about the predicament he’s landed himself in.
Dylan reveals that he’s already spoken to his mum, and she can’t attend the hearing as she’s working in Ibiza – but Eileen smells a rat.
In the courtroom, as Dylan pleads guilty, he doesn’t realise that Violet is sitting waiting of him back at No. 11, having known nothing about the situation and is furious with Sean for his terrible parenting.
Will she look to take him back to London?
