ITV Coronation Street exit date ‘sealed’ for Paul Foreman as he reaches worrying milestone
Coronation Street will air devastating scenes next week as Paul Foreman - played by Peter Ash - deteriorates ahead of his sad death later this year
Coronation Street will air sad scenes next week as Paul Foreman continues to deteriorate.
Paul – who is played by Peter Ash – has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and last year, he spent what he believes will be his final Christmas with his family, prompting speculation he will depart the Cobbles this year.
Next week on the ITV soap, Paul is struggling with his voice. As he tries to speak, he slurs his words and when his new personal assistant arrives, she is clearly out of her depth with him and is struggling to understand him. Billy tries to play it down in front of Paul, but it is clear he is worried about the future and warns Summer that they have to face facts, his speech is detioriating.
Billy later tells Summer that he is worried about talking to Paul about the deterioration as he knows that Paul wants to take his own life when things get too bad for him. Paul is sad when he finds out that Summer is going to delay her American course to be with the family until Paul passes away. He tells her she doesn’t want her to give up her dreams for him.
When they head to the Rovers for a karaoke evening, Paul tells Billy he has put them down to sing the song Stand By Me, but will the performance come off ok or is Paul’s voice struggles going to stop him in his tracks?
Peter – who plays Paul on the ITV soap – previously admitted he had “mixed feelings” about the storyline.
Speaking about his eventual exit, he explained to The Mirror and other press: “I was called into the producer’s office late last year, and he said we’ve got this very big storyline for you, which will be a great thing to do, but it will mean an eventual exit. I had mixed feelings obviously. I’ll be sad to leave the show. It’s an amazing job, I’ve met fantastic people. I’ll be sad to leave but at the same time, I’m quite happy to be involved in such a powerful storyline which will hopefully bring awareness to it. It’s a double edged sword.”
