Coronation Street spoilers: Evelyn rocked to the core by sex work discovery
Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) is to make a shock revelation in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, leaving mum Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) speechless.
It’s been a tense few weeks for the family after Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) returned from her supervisory position for Underworld in Norwich.
Feeling out of place in No. 9, Fiz debated whether daughters Hope (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby (Billie Naylor) resented her for spending so much time away.
After a heartwarming monologue from Ruby about how much she’s missed her mum, she was touched and despite the crowded living situation, asked both Evelyn and Cassie to stick around.
In upcoming scenes, Evelyn will be preoccupied with finding evidence to support friend Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) innocence after he is put under suspicion for the apparent murder of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
Lauren went missing after Roy fired her from his infamous café, and Evelyn accidentally landed him in trouble when she asked him to clean up her flat which was covered in vital evidence.
When reading an article online describing Lauren as a sex worker, she reaches out to Roy and suggests that it may be a clue in her disappearance but he doesn’t want to know.
Meanwhile, with the news reaching Cassie, she confides in son Tyrone (Alan Halsall) that the ordeal has brought back horrific memories of her own childhood.
Last year, she told him that Evelyn’s abandonment of her as a teenager led to her on the streets working as a prostitute and turning to drugs.
At the time, it was largely accepted as a cruel lie that Cassie had orchestrated to get revenge on her mum – but is there more to the story?
After getting angry with Evelyn and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) for discussing Lauren in the corner shop, Tyrone reveals to his wife and gran about her past.
But does Tyrone know the full story?
