New Eileen Grimshaw scenes revealed following fears that star had quit Coronation Street
Sue Cleaver’s Eileen Grimshaw will play a huge part in the return of Violet Wilson (Jenny Platt) to Coronation Street next week amidst fears that she is leaving the soap.
The actress announced in October that she would be joining the cast of Sister Act: The Musical.
Sue will be taking on the role of Mother Superior at select venues across the UK, a part previously played by legendary actresses Denise Black, Jennifer Saunders and Lesley Joseph.
She’s also recently joined the panel of ITV daytime show Loose Women, which is filmed at Television Centre in London.
With both of these new opportunities taking her miles away from Weatherfield, it sparked concerns amongst some fans that thought she would be bowing out of the show after twenty four years.
The street stalwart has played part in some of the soap’s biggest storylines including marrying vile serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre).
There seems to be no shortage of drama upcoming for the character, having recently told long-term lodger Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) that he’d have to move out as a result of his son Dylan (Liam McCheyne) facing charges for knife crime.
When Sean admits that he hasn’t told Dylan’s mum Violet of the ordeal, she reaches out to her and she arrives on the day of the hearing.
After filling her in on what’s been going on whilst she blissfully unaware in London, the lads arrive back from court and a furious Violet tears strips off Sean for his terrible parenting skills.
Will she try and take her son back to the capital, and with Sue Cleaver about to head on tour, how will Eileen make her temporary departure?
