There’s tense and dramatic scenes on Coronation Street next week with more than one character facing death.

As well as a dramatic siege seeing at least one character getting shot and facing death, there’s also trauma for one Weatherfield child who nearly drowns according to new spoilers. Both the child and the shooting victim are rushed to hospital in the fallout, with their fates teased.

Amid the chaos, there’s romance blossoming, big secrets being kept, a labour scare for pregnant Dee-Dee Bailey and more concern for Debbie Webster. There’s threats, the arrival of a new character and trouble for one teenager.

The biggest plot of the week is without a doubt Rob Donovan’s deadly revenge. With him in a bad way as he remains on the run, despite clearly needing medical attention, things take a deadly turn.

As a result, Rob threatens ex Tracy Barlow into tricking his sister Carla Connor, making her head to the Barlows’ home for “a business proposition”. Of course when she gets there, she’s panic stricken to find a bleeding Rob holding a gun, leaving both women in grave danger.

Rob plans to make his big escape and take Tracy with him, but it’s teased he could take a final revenge now that he has a shaken Carla where he wants her. Lisa Swain is horrified to hear what’s happened as a hostage situation unfolds on the cobbles, and soon armed police head to the scene.

Whether Lisa will risk her life once more to save her girlfriend, desperate to bring Rob to justice after weeks of terror, remains to be seen. A recent trailer appeared to confirm Lisa would end up inside the house with Carla as Rob continues to threaten them, while Tracy is nowhere to be seen.

What we do know is a shot rings out, leaving at least one life on the line. Is it Tracy, and is this why she doesn’t feature in the trailer? Might Carla or Lisa end up taking a bullet as Rob seeks revenge, or could the villain be stopped for once and for all?

No more is revealed on this, other than a teaser for the next episode that reveals the shooting victim is rushed to hospital sparking an anxious wait for those in the waiting room. It’s teased the character may not survive, so could a shocking death be on the cards for one character?

Elsewhere, there’s further turmoil when Bertie Osbourne suffers a near-drowning incident. He’s being looked after by Jenny Connor, the stepmother of his own stepmother Daisy Midegely, when horror strikes.

Jenny becomes distracted and Bertie wanders off, before he spots his football floating in the hot tub in Tim Metcalfe’s garden. He’s spotted by on/off lovers Steve McDonald and Cassie Plummer who head out for a dip only to come across a terrifying scene.

Seeing Bernie in the water they rush over to him, soon taking him back to Daisy and Jenny and revealing what’s happened. As Daisy rages at Jenny, the pair rush Bertie to hospital fearing he’s almost drowned and wanting to get him checked over – but will he be alright?

Speaking of Jenny, she’s hiding something rather huge from Daisy and goes behind her back amid their debt to Carla. Jenny reveals to Rita she could be due a windfall after Daisy’s dad invested shares in her name years ago, and she’s expecting a payout of £60k.

As Daisy continues to worry about paying Carla back, Jenny is secretly trying to settle her part of the debt leaving her guilty. As Daisy questions her sudden windfall though, she wonders if Jenny will reveal all unaware Jenny is offering her funds to Carla to go towards her debt, leading to a suggestion.

Also next week, newcomer Theo makes his arrival just as Julie Carp is almost injured when scaffolding falls and lands on the ground near her, after she suffers a funny turn. Theo accuses her of faking her pain, not realising it’s a result of her cancer leaving him mortified.

Soon sparks seem to fly between Theo and Todd Grimshaw, leading to Julie wanting to play matchmaker – only for Theo to tell Todd he isn’t gay. Elsewhere, Sean Tully lands his son Dylan Wilson in trouble in the STC as he plants a burner phone in tutor Daniel Osbourne’s bag, only for the plan to be rumbled.

Newcomer Mick issues more demands to Debbie Webster after she continues to refuse to pay him for a recent call-out. When her purse goes missing she accuses Mick, but is there more to it?

Jack Webster is suspended from school after getting into a fight, but his aunt Debbie manages to reverse it. Pregnant Dee-Dee is forced to consider allowing James and Danny to adopt her baby, while she soon suffers a labour scare after being left in pain only to be told it’s a false alarm.
