Coronation Street fans have been promised danger and heartbreak on the ITV soap next week.

The storyline surrounding what really happened to Lauren Bolton has been picking up pace as of late after the police discovered spatters of blood in her flat and earlier this week, DS Swain confirmed in a radio interview that the search continued for Lauren but she did say that all clues pointed towards the character being dead and murdered by a mystery person.

It was claimed by the police that forensic evidence found at her flat was consistent with a violent assault and we now know that both Roy Cropper and Daniel Osbourne will be the prime suspects for all that’s gone on.

Roy’s in trouble

Next week on the ITV soap, Roy Cropper (David Neilson) finds himself in trouble. As Roy tells Nina and Yasmeen that he’s been asked to go back to the police station for more interviews, an internet sleuth hides in Roy’s Rolls and its clear their focus is on trying to pin him for the murder. The amateur sleuths also go digging at the bat roost site, searching for evidence.

Worried about what’s happening, Max decides to go and visit Lauren’s dad Reece in prison and tells him how Roy is wrongly suspected of Lauren’s murder. But soon things take a turn for the worst for Roy when two thugs lock him inside and demand to know what he has done with Lauren, clearly working alongside her dad – but what will happen to Roy?

Roy faces more trouble when he loads his car boot with shovels and bin bags and heads for the roost site but when he returns, he finds DS Swain waiting for him to take him to the station. When he attends a vigil for the missing teenager, he is heckled by a group of sleuths, who are filming him on their phone. His loved ones urge him to keep a low profile but he is adamant he wants to help find Lauren. Is things only going to get worse for Roy as it all escalates?

Paul takes a worrying turn next week

Paul’s worrying milestone

Paul Foreman was diagnosed with motor neurone disease several months ago but his health takes a worrying turn next week. Paul finds himself struggling with his voice. As he tries to speak, he starts to slur his words and when his new personal assistant arrives, she is really struggling to understand him. Billy tries to play his voice change down, but it is clear he is worried about the future and warns Summer that they have to face facts, his speech is deteriorating and things are getting worse.

Billy later tells Summer that he is worried about talking to Paul about the deterioration as he knows that Paul wants to take his own life when things get too bad for him. Paul is sad when he finds out that Summer is going to delay her American course to be with the family. He tells her he doesn’t want her to give up her dreams for him but she is adamant.

When they head to the Rovers for a karaoke evening, Paul tells Billy he has put them down to sing Stand By Me. Will the performance go to plan and is Paul ready to face the fact that his life is changing?

Violet is back on the Cobbles

There is big news for Sean and Dylan next week when Violet makes her return to the Cobbles. Actress Jenny Platt will reprise her role for the first time in 13 years next week when Violet returns and criticises Sean for his poor parenting amid this bullying storyline.

She comes face to face with Sean for the first time in several years when she arrives to ask what’s going on with Dylan, given that she seemingly wasn’t able to make his court hearing. Eileen reveals she called Violet to ask why she wasn’t coming to the hearing, only to find out Dylan had lied about tell her about it. She tears a strip off Sean, fuming at him for his bad parenting skills.

Speaking about Violet’s return, Sean actor Antony Cotton said: “I think we’re probably filming for about four weeks, she’s probably in like a dozen episodes or something. And then who knows, this storyline is gonna go on.

“So I hope that as long as it goes well and she enjoys it, I’m hoping that we might see her again because if there’s more of this stuff and it gets more more serious, one would imagine that we would perhaps see Violet again.”
