New love interest saves Sarah from attack by thug in Coronation Street
Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien)’s varied romantic career on Coronation Street went from ex-husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), a lawyer, to Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) – a drug dealer and seasoned criminal.
It looks like her next romance will be with a man who is an interesting blend of the two. Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is a police officer, but he’s not above a bit of shady and criminal behaviour when the situation demands it.
In one of their earlier encounters last year, Kit opted to turn a blind eye when he caught Sarah trying to frame evil paedophile Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) for the murder of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). This connection cause fans to speculate that Kit and Sarah would make a good couple.
It’s taken quite a few months to get there and Kit has in the meantime had a fling with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) which resulted in her becoming pregnant with his baby, who sadly was stillborn – but now it seems that Sarah and Kit are about to become close.
In the Rovers, Kit employs his standard flirting technique, but Sarah decides she’s not going to make things easy for him and does her best to withstand his charms.
But when someone tries to snatch her phone and Kit deploys his police presence and air of manly authority to sort the thug out, Sarah is unable to hold out any longer. When he suggests they spend the day together, she readily agrees and it’s obvious she finds him attractive.
Things don’t get off to a brilliant start, however. Their attempt to spend some quiet time in her flat is thwarted when Todd (Gareth Pierce) arrives. Sarah has given him a key so he can use the flat to have a quiet nap, after spending the previous night looking after his unwell aunt Julie (Katy Cavanagh).
From there, Sarah gets involved in Todd’s love life. He’s started a relationship with scaffolder Theo (James Cartwright), but it’s complicated by the fact that Todd has discovered that Theo has a wife and he’s hiding the fact that he’s gay.
Sarah is drawn into covering for Todd with Theo’s wife, Danielle. As she goes to meet Kit for a date at the bistro, Danielle sees Sarah with Todd and assumes they’re together and invites them to join her and Theo at their table. Wanting to wind Theo up, Todd plants a kiss on Sarah’s lips.
Unfortunately Kit chooses that moment to arrive and the first thing he sees is his date apparently kissing her gay ex.
It’s not an ideal scenario, and although Sarah does her best to explain to Kit he is not very impressed.
Can their relationship survive this shaky start?
