Axed Coronation Street star Colson Smith reveals surprising new ‘job’ – and it’s worlds away from the ITV soap
CORONATION Street’s Colson Smith revealed a surprising new ‘job’ – and its worlds away from Weatherfield.
It was first reported back in January that the 26-year-old actor was one of several stars who have been axed from the ITV soap.
Taking to Instagram, Colson shared news of a surprising “job” and it’s far removed from PC Craig Tinker.
He is pictured in what appears to be a barn, surrounded by sheep and lambs.
The actor penned: “Spent my Sunday delivering lambs. Midwife mode: activated.”
Colson has experience, as he previously helped his sister Hannah, a vet, during lambing season on her farm.
One follower penned: “Well done mate! That’s so special !!”
Another wrote: “And I spent the day cleaning the oven. I think one of us had a more productive day.”
While a third shared: “Aw soooo cute.”
Back in March, The Sun revealed how Colson’s character Craig would be killed off in a dramatic storyline that will air this summer.
A source told us: “Craig has grown up on the street and he’s become part of it so it was a tough decision to make but one that will be worth it.
“PC Tinker will meet his maker in heroic circumstances this summer and there won’t be a dry eye in the house when it goes out.
“Colson is taking it well and there’s a real feeling that this chapter is closing for him and there are bigger and brighter things ahead.”
The Sun also told how Colson has filmed his final scenes ahead of Craig’s dramatic exit from the ITV soap.
Last year, the soap star competed in Celebrity Big Brother and placed third overall.
This year’s housemates include his Corrie pal and podcast co-host Jack P. Shepherd, aka David Platt.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Colson revealed the piece of advice he shared with Jack that was promptly ignored.
He said: “I’ve given him plenty of advice to be fair, the main one was to go in and enjoy yourself because you only get to do a show like this once, so make the most of it.”
Yet talking of the key spot of intel, he added: “I did tell him to make sure he gets a bed, but he was the last into the bedroom last night.
“So I don’t think he was even listening.”
