Corrie Daisy’s exit storyline confirmed as she opens up on quitting soap
Daisy has facing a host of problems in Weatherfield in recent months, but now she is set to leave the cobbles for good in an explosive plot that will impact the street for months
Coronation Street bosses have confirmed how Daisy Midgeley is set to leave the ITV soap.
Actress Charlotte Jordan, 29, has been gearing up from her exit from Coronation Street for months, with the announcement being made as far back as January. Playing the role of Daisy, her character has been caught in some of the show’s darkest storylines, including being involved with evil baddie Kit Green, but have also been left shocked when seeing her in other roles.
Now, with time drawing ever closer Daisy’s departure from Weatherfield, ITV bosses have confirmed how the star will bid the Street farewell. It comes over five years since she first stepped onto the soap as the former step-daughter of current Rovers landlady Jenny Connor.
Fans have been on the edge of their seats in recent weeks as Daisy discovered that beau Daniel Osbourne, was not in fact the father to her unborn child. But amid the chaos, there have been other major storylines that Daisy has been involved in.
Over the course of her stint in Weatherfield, Daisy was swallowed into the centre of a harrowing blackmail plot – as well as being stalked by paranoid Justin Rutherford. The storyline resulted in Daisy and Ryan being hit with acid, which continues to affect Ryan to this day.
Her most recent storyline of working out who the father was to her child came to a chilling end, however, after she was a victim of a hit-and-run. The crash would result in Daisy tragically losing the baby, causing immense heartache for her and her family.
But in new scenes, Daisy will be seen scheming with her mum Christina Boyd, after finding out Jenny is now loaded after a surprise windfall. With Daisy now gearing up for some dramatic final scenes, it has been promised that Daisy’s exit will cause a wave of devastation, as she plots to get back at Jenny – who is hoping to buy the Rovers from owner Carla Connor.
According to ITV bosses, Jenny is set to beg for Daisy to change her mind to leave in highly emotional scenes that will have viewers sobbing as she bids farewell to the Street. As well as this, her relationship with Daniel is set to be pushed to the brink, including a crucial conversation that could see Daisy reconsider her decision to leave.
Daisy’s exit from the soap was confirmed by producers at ITV back in January. The scenes will air to the public next month.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News on her departure from the soap, actress Charlotte explained it was “very bittersweet” to see Daisy leave the Street. “Weatherfield has been her home for a while now and, early on, was giving her all the things she wanted – family, community, stability, people to love more than she perhaps loves herself – but it’s also been the source of so much trauma for her,” she mused.
“As for me, I’m feeling really grateful for my years on the show and the people I’ve gotten to work with,” Charlotte added. “Producer Kate Brooks has been so supportive about me wanting to go back out into the audition circuit and very generous with Daisy’s exit story, as she really wanted to do the character justice.”
