Mystery over missing Coronation Street legend who has ‘disappeared’
A fan of ITV’s Coronation Street has noticed one resident has been absent from the cobbles for most of this year.
Mikey North has played Gary Windass since 2008. The character has lived a troubled life, and has been part of some dark storylines over the years.
In a desperate attempt to sort his debt problems out, Gary orchestrated the Underworld roof collapse in 2019. The disaster led to the death of Rana Habeeb.
Gary was then responsible for killing loan shark Rick Neelan in a violent showdown. It was done in self-defence, but Gary hid the secret from everyone for a very long time.
His guilt was challenged, however, when Gary grew protective over Rick’s daughter Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson).
In recent years though, Gary has been on quite the journey of redemption. He is still in a relationship with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) and remains focused on looking after their sons Liam and Jake, and running his furniture shop.
According to the Coronation Street wiki page, Gary Windass was last seen on our screens in an episode that was broadcasted on January 6.
When will Gary Windass return?
While this has sparked intrigue among the Corrie fanbase, they don’t need to worry for much longer, as the character will reappear in the coming weeks.
In the café, Gary will tell Maria that business is slow at the shop, and he’s thinking of selling up and buying the builder’s yard.
Following Maria’s comments about them being unable to afford it, Gary confides in Mick (Joe Layton) about his situation.
Mick tells Gary that he should go ahead with the plan, believing what is best for him, is also what is best for Maria.
Later that day, Maria arrives in the Bistro and finds Gary and Mick enjoying a drink – but how will she react when she discovers the developments?
