Is Tracy Barlow leaving Coronation Street for good? Kate Ford’s future on ITV soap confirmed

Tracy Barlow has been a staple of Coronation Street for decades but has she appeared in her final scenes this evening after deciding to join Tommy in Spain?

Tracy Barlow has been a key character of Coronation Street for years.

However, in shock scenes tonight, Tracy decided she wanted to head to follow her lover Tommy Orpington in Spain. At the start of the episode, she got back together with Steve McDonald, as she felt they could make things work.

She later learned that Steve had burned the note that Tommy had left for her, telling her about the move to Spain, and decided that she was going to follow her lover to be with him in Europe and leave Steve for good.

Fans were surprised to see Tracy heading off into the sunset with Tommy, but have we seen the last of her?

Spoilers have confirmed that Tracy will appear in tomorrow night’s episode – which has moved from its usual Wednesday slot – when Ken decides he wants to plan a farewell gathering for Tracy. She arrives to the house for her things and tells Ken, Amy and Daniel that she will miss them as she makes her plans to move to be with Tommy in Spain.

When Ken suggests they head to the Rovers for one last drink, the three of them toast to Tracy’ new start. Steve, who is sat nearby is clearly struggling as he hides in his newspaper, leaving Amy feeling concerned for him.

It is not known whether Tracy (Kate Ford) will make a return to the soap anytime soon but she is not mentioned in any spoilers for the rest of this week. It will be a huge exit for the soap, given she has been on the show for several decades.

Whilst Tracy looks to be going, actor Simon Gregson – who plays Steve – is keen for his character to continue his time on the Cobbles and previously said he wants to see Steve get back out on the dating scene once more.

“I think it would be great if we see Steve having to go down the route of speed dating, online dating,” he said, before quipping: “Steve could have a full on mid life crisis, maybe we could see him losing weight, changing his appearance, going to the gym. It could be a lot of fun and also a great excuse for me to make some changes in real life!”

Simon isn’t worried whether Steve falls in love with someone on the Cobbles or a new character. He added: “I think anyone will do. At this point in Steve’s life he’d be lucky to have anybody! … He gets why Tracy is attracted to Tommy, but he’s just so upset that his idol has done this to him. I think there’s so much going on at once that he’s not properly put it together yet.”
