Bloody attack and two missing kids as Roy’s ordeal gets worse in Coronation Street

Coronation Street spoiler picture shows Roy fighting with Lauren's mum and Gary looking at Sarah as they sit together

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for our beloved Roy Cropper (David Neilson), next week’s Coronation Street episodes throw up yet more turmoil.

Completely now in the frame for Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) supposed murder, Roy takes a risk and reaches out to her mum.

At first, it seems like he has found an unexpected ally – until she surreptitiously films footage of him to make him seem bad.

In a struggle for the phone that follows, she accidentally falls and Roy is then facing allegations of assault on top of everything else.

Not only that, but Hayley’s vindictive son Christian is wading in with spite. At the end of it all, Roy is formally charged and it’s looking pretty bad for him.

In other developments, Gary Windass (Mikey North) is getting worryingly close to Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).

And, ahead of the court appearance, Liam and Dylan end up going missing – will they turn up?

Monday April 8

As Liam gets ready for court, Gary and Maria do their best to bolster his confidence. With his rucksack on his back, Dylan scuttles out of the hotel. A worried Violet calls at No.11 and tells Sean that Dylan has gone missing.

In the Bistro, a nervous Liam picks at his breakfast when Sean and Violet hurry in to reveal that Dylan’s missing. As Gary offers to help find Dylan, Liam heads home and unbeknown to him, someone watches from across the street.

Dylan drags Liam into the ginnel and after telling him about Mason’s threats, suggests they do a runner to avoid going to court. Having discovered that Liam’s not at home, Gary and Maria tell Sean and Violet that Liam’s gone missing too.

In the café, Roy answers the phone to receive another volley of abuse and he quickly retreats upstairs.

At No.8, Nick and Shona discuss the dreadful abuse that Roy’s having to deal with as Sam wishes he could pay Roy a visit but Nick doesn’t think it’s a good idea.

Sam lies to Shona and tells her that he’s going round to see Hope, but calls at the café and suggests to Roy they have a game of chess.

Daisy arrives for work, convinced Carla can’t fire her as her name is on the deeds but Jenny tells her to sling her hook.

Daisy calls at Street Cars flat and tells Ryan that she’s lost everything and she doesn’t want to lose him too. Appalled by her recent behaviour, Ryan orders her to leave.

At No.3, Ed opens a letter from the insurance company and is pleasantly surprised to see that they’re going to pay out more than he was expecting.

Nina makes it clear to Evelyn and Shona that despite all the crank calls, they must still answer the phone as Roy is hoping for a call from Lauren’s mother.

After reading through comments online, Stu tells Yasmeen and Alya that he intends to help Roy clear his name as he knows what it’s like to be wrongly accused. In the precinct, Stu talks to a homeless guy, hoping for information about Lauren and as he pulls out his wallet, he fails to notice the guy picking up a brick.

Stu returns to Speed Daal with a bloodied face and explains to Yasmeen how he had his wallet stolen and was hit with a brick. Roy reels in shock as Evelyn reveals that Hayley’s son, Christian has posted some hurtful things about him and Hayley online.

Nick catches Leanne with her eyes closed and explains that she’s ‘reality coding’ in an attempt to eliminate the unexpected.

Debbie tells Toyah that Rowan’s leaving for the States today and she’ll be glad to see the back of him as she’s sick of listening to his ‘reality coding’ nonsense. As Rowan checks out of the hotel, a breathless Toyah arrives and quizzes him about the Autovalent Institute.

As Rowan spouts his reality coding drivel, Toyah reveals that she’s a trained counsellor and suggests that what he’s doing is harmful. Toyah warns Nick that Rowan is a fraud who preys on vulnerable people and he needs to nip Leanne’s obsession with the Autovalent Institute in the bud before they take all her money.

Sean begs Violet to reconsider and let Dylan remain in Weatherfield, but she won’t be swayed.

As Dylan leaves for London, Sean and Dylan exchange an emotional goodbye. Heading towards the tram station, Dylan admits to Violet that he doesn’t want to leave as he wants to put things right with the people he hurt.

When a shamefaced Jenny tells Rita about the stolen money and tries to pin it on Daisy, Rita reckons she’s kidding herself and equally to blame.

Debbie offers Ed a job as handyman at the Chariot Square Hotel and he gratefully accepts, pleased that things are looking up.

Friday April 12

During the night, Kerry secretly films Roy’s living room and records a commentary making him out to be a murderer. Kelly leaps back onto the sofa and pretends to be asleep when Roy sleep walks into the room.

After reading the horrible online comments Christian wrote about Roy, Nick and Sam call at the café flat where Nick apologises to Roy and assures him that when things are back to normal, he’d be happy for Sam to spend time with him.

When Sam tells Roy that he’s his BFF, best friend forever, Kerry secretly takes note. A shaken Roy heads down to the café and explains to Shona and Nina that he’s just had a call from Lauren’s mum asking him not to contact her again. With all eyes on Alice, she admits she isn’t Kerry.

As Roy and Evelyn head out with Freddie, they come face to face with Alice who starts filming them and as Roy tries to stop her, she stumbles and bangs her head. Accusing him of assault, Alice hurries away.

Dee-Dee returns to the café and breaks the news to Carla, Nina, Shona and Evelyn that Roy has been charged with the murder of Lauren Bolton. Roy sits alone in his police cell, his mind completely numb with fear.

As Maria turns up the volume and hears their conversation, she’s hurt. Sarah takes a call from Dee-Dee telling her that Damon got six years and as she starts to cry, Gary takes her in his arms.
