Coronation Street legend ‘to return’ after 7 years as ‘new Rovers Return landlady’
Coronation Street is reportedly welcoming back a former soap legend as the new owner of the Rovers Return
The brand new owner of Coronation Street’s Rovers Return has been ‘unveiled’ and it’s a returning soap legend.
The iconic landmark is one of the most well-known pubs in all of soapland and it holds a wealth of history throughout the soap’s 65-year reign on screens.
Over the years, soap viewers have seen several faces stand behind the legendary bar, ruling the roost and ringing the bell.
These include icons like Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear) and Liz McDonald (Beverly Callard) to newbies like Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) – who recently left the soap.
Currently, the pub is owned by Carla Connor (Alison King), after former landlady Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and Daisy bought the pub using stolen cash from Carla’s factory.
Recently though, Jenny was forced out from behind the bar, and as a result, Carla recruited Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) to step in as manager until she can find new people to take over the street’s iconic venue.
But now, it’s been claimed that former cobbles resident Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) is heading back to take over the Rovers Return. Rumours of Eva’s return were first reported on earlier this year – and a recent source has ‘confirmed’ her potential new storyline.
An insider told The Sun: “It’s one of the biggest jobs in soap, the landlady of the Rovers Return pub. Bosses were desperate to get Cath back, they came up with the perfect storyline with her being unveiled as the new landlady of the Rovers.”
Reach has contacted ITV for comment.
Eva made her debut on the ITV soap in 2011. And as the sister of Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and daughter of Stella (Michelle Collins) she became a firm favourite with fans.
She was also involved in several big storylines and moments – from working at the Rovers to her romance with Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) that ended in heartbreak following his affair with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon).
However, Eva left Weatherfield in 2018 to relocate to France with her mother, Stella following Aidan’s tragic death.
