Coronation Street fans have ‘worked out’ the real reason for Eva Price’s return and it’s not looking good.

It was recently announced that Eva (Catherine Tyldesley) is heading back to the cobbles after seven years.

The character made her debut way back in 2011, rocking up as the sister of Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and daughter of Stella (Michelle Collins).

Eva was involved in several big storylines during her first stint on the soap too – from working at the Rovers to her romance with Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) that ended in heartbreak following his affair with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon).

However, Eva left Weatherfield in 2018 to relocate to France with her mother, Stella following Aidan’s tragic death.

But this week, it was confirmed that Eva is heading back to the cobbles – and she’s not alone. Joining Eva are her partner Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) and his interfering mother Maggie (Pauline McLynn).

However, while fans have been left over the moon about Eva’s return, other viewers can’t help but think a heartbreaking twist is ahead.

On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one person wrote: “Can’t wait to have Eva back!” Other people then suggested a shock cancer storyline, similar to Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh ) who returned this year, only to die a few months later following a battle with cancer.

They wrote: “She’s probably gonna have cancer like Julie isn’t she?” Another then penned: “Yeah maybe.” Someone else chimed in: “I hope not, what’s the point of bringing her back then?!” A fifth declared: “I’ll be so sad if that’s the case, always liked her.”

Meanwhile, talking about Eva’s return, Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks has said: “We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow. The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees-ups galore.

“To have actors of Catherine, Aaron and Pauline’s considerable calibre at the beating heart of this family is absolutely wonderful, and we can’t wait for you to get to know and fall in love with them as much as we have already done. Strap yourselves in, it’s going to be an exciting and eventful ride.”
