ITV Coronation Street spoilers: Second character faces prison over Lauren news in huge Roy twist

Coronation Street will air a big twist next week when a second character faces prison amid news about Lauren Bolton after Roy Cropper was accused

Coronation Street will air a surprise in the Lauren Bolton story as another character faces prison.

Roy Cropper has been the prime suspect for the disappearance and death of Lauren Bolton, and next week, we will see Roy get arrested after DS Swain is convinced he is the only person that can be responsible for what happened. On Friday’s episode, we will see DS Swain take Roy in for questioning as his solicitor Dee Dee sits alongside him.

She sees him as responsible for what happened, and both Roy and Dee-Dee are shocked when she brings up his history. Dee Dee later returns to Roys Rolls on her own, where she confirms to those there that Roy has been charged with Lauren’s murder.

Speaking about the storyline, David Neilson said: “Roy is innocent in every respect, he is innocent of the crime, but he is also an innocent soul. He never thought for one minute it would come to this, he truly felt that if he simply answered everything honestly it would all be okay and he was naïve to assume that being innocent meant that he would be seen to be innocent.

“What I like about this storyline is the way it has gone back 29 years to 1995 when Roy first arrived. It is reminiscent of that early Roy Cropper when people were suspicious of his behaviour and thought he was creepy. And all this history will be used against him, things that have happened in the past like abducting their foster child. All that makes this storyline interesting to play and to watch it unfold.”

However, next week on the ITV soap, Bobby ends up being questioned by police. When news reaches Weatherfield about Roy, he and Bernie are discussing what best to do – but what is Bobby planning?

He is left worried next week when he gets summoned to the station to face further questioning. In the prison, Roy refuses to leave the cell and won’t eat. DS Swain leaves Bobby shaken when he reminds him that perverting the course of justice is very serious. Bobby heads home to Carla, where he tells her that under pressure, he saw a man waring a balaclava and a dark coat with a fur-trimmed hood. When Bobby tells the others he’s changed his statement, Cassie, Evelyn and Nina are all interested to see if this can help get Roy out of the problem he’s in. When they recognise the coat and where it’s come from – has Bobby unwittingly accused Daniel?
