Bethany Platt is back on Coronation Street – but the star’s real life has changed a lot since she left Weatherfield three years ago.

Actress Lucy Fallon played Bethany on the soap for five years from 2015 to 2020 before she walked away from the cobbles for a few years. In 2023, she made the “easy decision” to go back and Corrie boss Iain Macleod revealed Bethany will be at the centre of a huge storyline this year.

But what does the 28-year-old star’s life look like away from the cameras? Here, we take a look at her romance with Championship footballer Ryan Ledson as they navigate parenthood together.

The actress, 28, met Preston North End midfielder Ryan, 26, on celebrity dating app Raya in May 2021 and a wedding could be on the cards one day soon. Lucy confessed that she’s been so keen for Ryan to propose, she has been bombarding him with videos of engagement rings on TikTok.

“I’m waiting for it… I’ve sent him a few TikToks when I’ve seen a nice ring,” she told the Mirror recently. “I mean, I am going to be wearing it every day, so I want it to be something I like!” The couple welcomed their son, Sonny Jude, in January 2023, and Lucy has “always wanted to be a mum”.

“I feel like he’s just slotted into our lives perfectly,” she said. “He’s really chilled. I feel like we’ve been quite lucky with how he is.” But the couple have put plans for baby number two on hold so Lucy can focus on her Corrie comeback.

Teasing a potential new love interest on the cobbles, she said: “I trust the producer and writers to bring her back and play out however [they see fit]. She might bring someone else back with her that she’s met – the love of her life, who knows!”

Instagram/lucyfallonx)Last year, Lucy opened up about motherhood in an interview with OK! magazine. She said: “It’s been a rollercoaster of high and low moments, with lots of tears along the way. When Sonny was finally born, we were both sobbing – but happy tears.” The couple initially kept the pregnancy a secret after suffering a tragic miscarriage in March at seven weeks.

The new mum told how she was “scared but excited” ahead of welcoming their little one to the world. “It was a traumatising, horrendous time,” she told the Mirror last year. “We went for a scan and they couldn’t see anything, so then we went to the hospital and they thought they could see something, so it was very up and down.

“I had pregnancy symptoms and I was feeling really unwell. There were no signs I’d had a miscarriage, so that made it more of a shock. We just assumed everything was going to be fine. Then after a week when they’d done the blood tests and other tests, I went back and they said I’d miscarried. It was a really strange feeling.

“Even though so many people go through it, you never expect it will happen to you. I had imagined this little person who was going to come into our lives and then they were taken away from me. It was really horrible to deal with, but thankfully Ryan was so supportive.”
