Coronation Street’s Steve McDonald ‘has secret brother’ already in Weatherfield
Coronation Street enthusiasts are speculating that Steve McDonald might have a secret sibling residing in Weatherfield.
Actor Simon Gregson, who has portrayed Steve on the soap since he was a mere 15 years old in 1989, initially arrived in Weatherfield with his on-screen twin brother Andy McDonald, played by Nicholas Cochrane, and their parents.
The duo were notorious for their teenage rebellious antics, causing a stir among their neighbours. Their mother, Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard), was a staple character from 1989 to 2020.
Her husband, Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson), made his last appearance in 2018. The couple had two sons, Andy and Steve, and a daughter named Katie, who tragically passed away shortly after her birth in 1992.

Andy bid farewell to the show in August 2009, leaving for Spain to take up a teaching position, reports Leicestershire Live.
Steve, once a troublemaker, has been involved in numerous dubious activities over the years but has recently evolved into more of a comedic character.
His poor judgement could be the reason behind his multiple marriages on the soap – having tied the knot seven times with five different women.

Despite the departure of Steve’s family members over the years, Corrie fans believe he has another brother in Weatherfield, suggesting a resemblance between him and Brian Packham (Peter Gunn).
Brian, who first graced the screen in 2010, discovered an Italian cousin following a DNA test in 2023. Could it be possible that Brian is actually Jim McDonald’s son?
One Reddit user queried: “Steve and Brian separated at birth?”, adding: “Steve is slowly morphing into Brian. How long will it be before you can’t tell them apart.”
