Coronation Street spoilers – Roy’s violent crimes and child kidnap spell the end for him
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is to face further turmoil in upcoming Coronation Street scenes as a barrister brings up events from his past.
Roy is currently prime suspect for the apparent murder of troubled teen Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), who went missing at the end of February.
After firing her from his café, he called round to her flat to drop off her wages – unwillingly becoming the last person to see her alive.
He further implicated himself when he agreed to clean her precinct flat, accidentally disposing of evidence in the process.
Since then he’s been questioned by authorities and fallen victim to a vile online hate campaign and has received nuisance calls for weeks.
In a dark twist, far right extremist friends of Lauren’s dad cornered him behind his shop counter.
Next week, he faces court, and in horrific scenes, the CPS barrister begins to paint a cruel and untrue picture of the Corrie legend.
Mentioning a list of previous crimes, including an assault on Gary Windass (Mikey North) ten years ago and abduction of Wayne Hayes (then Gary Damer) over two decades ago.
Roy had attacked Gary with a cricket bat after finding him snooping in the café late at night.
The incident with Wayne has more complex as he was saved from his abusive family when the Croppers had fostered him.
As Nina (Mollie Gallagher), Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) and Carla (Alison King) await his bail hearing, Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) hurries over and hands Nina a letter from Roy.
Fighting back tears, they realise that he’s convinced he’s going to prison.
Dee-Dee puts forward her case and urges the Judge to grant Roy bail, but the application is refused and he is to be held in custody until his trial.
Will Roy survive time locked up?
