Roy was the last person to see Lauren alive before she disappeared and Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that Roy will be charged with her murder and held in prison with no bail.

The future looks bleak for Roy – who is also set to go on hunger strike and refuse to leave his cell – but some Coronation Street fans think there is still hope for him, and for justice to be served.

Taking to social media to share all their theories on what could happen, some believe Roy’s path to freedom lies in the return of Lauren herself.

And they think for extra drama, she will reappear just as Roy is going to trial for her murder.

One wrote: “Could Lauren make a shock appearance at the trial?”

Another added: “I feel this will end when Lauren turns at the trial as an unannounced witness!”

A third tweeted: “Get Lauren to turn up in Court!”

Meanwhile, other Coronation Street fans noticed a blunder during a tense episode in Roy’s flat on Wednesday evening.

Evelyn, Nina and Shona were with Roy, and Evelyn revealed Christian, the son of Roy’s late wife Hayley, had posted a nasty message on social media.

Roy was devastated to learn Christian had insinuated he had killed his wife – who had actually decided to end her own life after being diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer in 2014 – and that Lauren wasn’t his first “victim”.

But as Evelyn handed Roy the phone to look at the message, Coronation Street viewers immediately noticed a gaffe.

Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one wrote: “Come on, at least put the phone on. #Corrie”.

Another added: “Phone wasn’t even switched on? #corrie”.

A third tweeted: “it would help if the phone was actually on you could tell that was a blank screen”.
