Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne in the frame for teen murder – and it’s not looking good
Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) once again finds himself in the frame for Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) suspected murder in Coronation Street after a local changes their statement.
The former high school teacher, as fans know, has already been forced to bat questions from investigating officer DS Swain (Vicky Myers) and he will soon have to do so again following the actions of a guilty Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll).
With Roy Cropper (David Neilson), who is prime suspect in the murder, being denied bail in upcoming scenes, Bobby is riddled with guilt, given it’s his fault that the well-meaning cafe owner was arrested in the first place.
Determined to right his wrongs, the newcomer heads straight for the station to change his statement, informing DS Swain that he saw someone – who one hundred percent was not Roy – at Lauren’s flat shortly before her vanishing.
To strengthen his lie, Bobby claims the man was proper threatening and adds details, such as the fact that the alleged perpetrator was wearing a coat with a fur-trimmed hood.
But while his intentions were honourable in trying to rescue Roy, Bobby simply puts Daniel back under the microscope, with Cassie Plummer (Clair Sweeney) finding a coat – matching the description of the one Bobby mentioned – at the charity shop.
The coat in question seemingly belongs to Daniel as subsequent scenes see the former teacher dragged back down to the station for more questioning.
Oh Bobby, what have you done?
After being forced to explain himself again, Daniel is allowed to walk free, which certainly bodes well for him but, after some advice from Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) – who read an article about Lauren being a sex worker – he decides to meet up with old flame Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson).
Little does he know, however, that this is only going to complicate the situation even further, with arch-nemesis Max Turner (Paddy Bever) not only witnessing the meeting but recording it too!
The teen makes it clear to Bobby, who is present too, that Nicky is a sex worker and thus he believes Daniel is hiding something in relation to Lauren.
It’s not looking too good for Daniel, is it?
