Coronation Street predict second favourite will be ‘locked up’ – and it’s not Joel

Coronation Street favourite Roy Cropper might not be the only beloved cobbles resident to find themselves locked up behind bars this week after new evidence came to light

Coronation Street fans could bet set to see a second cobbles favourite spend time behind bars after Roy Cropper was reprimanded for the disappearance of Lauren Bolton.

Over the past few months, fans have been gripped to their screens as the search for the teenager continues after she suddenly vanished back in February. Since then, suspicions have fallen on the café owner after he cleaned his employee’s apartment moments before police came to search it.

During Monday’s visit (April 15) to the ITV cobbles, viewers watched the beloved elderly business owner face the judge as Dee-Dee Bailey fought for him to be released on bail until his trial. But much to viewers’ disappointment, the local solicitor failed to let get him released and he was sent down.

As the loveable Roy moved into his new lodgings, he broke hearts up and down the country when he refused an evening meal. Things only got worse for the TV icon when he used his one phone call to call the café which was completely empty.

Now, fans are convinced another resident will be moving into the local prison after new evidence came to light. At the end of the episode, Bobby confessed to DS Swain that he was assaulted by w masked man who was leaving Lauren’s flat on the day of her disappearance.

The newcomer then shared this information with his aunt Carla Connor as he encouraged her to change her statement to help catch the real kidnapper. The businesswoman rightly recoiled at her nephew’s fibs as she warned him that this could land him in serious trouble with the police.

Bobby told her: “It took longer than expected at the police station, I was giving them a lead. I told them I saw someone at Lauren’s flat on the night she disappeared.

“I gave a vague enough but detailed enough description of him, I just couldn’t point him wildly out.” Furious with his decision, Carla asked: “Bobby, you made up a murderer?” to which he argued: “We don’t know she’s dead. The police should be out there.

“I told them I tried to keep it a secret but I came home and you could see I was upset and you asked if anything had happened. I can tell you the date and time I said I spoke to you if you like.”

Disgusted with his lies, she fumed: “You brought me into it?” which he pointed out: “You want to see Roy free, don’t you? And catch whoever did this. Well then back me to the police.”

She added: “What by lying, Bobby?” as he explained: “Do you want to see me locked up for making a false statement? No. So lie, for Roy’s sake.”

Now viewers believe this could land the newbie behind bars for perverting the course of justice. After watching the dramatic scenes unfold, viewers flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their suspicions online.

One user penned: “Oh Bobby you’ve just made things worse. Lying to the police could get you send down [worried emoji] #Corrie.” Another agreed: “There’s lying to the police and then there’s adding a fake killer into your story. What an idiot #Corrie.”

A third echoed: “Been to the police and told them lies in order to bring about a miscarriage of justice. Bobby should be charged with perverting the course of justice #Corrie.”
