Coronation Street spoilers for next week see a big discovery about a past character.

In upcoming scenes, George Shuttleworth reveals that he’s updating his will and he wants Eileen Grimshaw to accept power of attorney. However, the conversation is overheard by sister Glenda Shuttleworth, who had popped over with some washing, and is offended Eileen has been asked over her as she storms out.

Later, a suspicious Eileen calls at the undertakers to find her son Todd there, plying George with tea and biscuits amid news of him updating his will. Will George cotton on to Todd’s hidden agenda? Later in the week, George files away a copy of his new will at the undertakers, with a nosy Todd watching on.

It’s not long until an intrigued Todd reads through George’s will, where he’s caught red-handed by Eileen. Todd is quick to divulge the details from the will, revealing that George is leaving him the business to which Eileen scolds that George would change his mind if he knew he’d gone behind his back.

After being told off, a sheepish Todd slips George’s will back in the file and discovers a copy of George’s father Archie Shuttleworth’s will and quickly hides it inside his pocket. Later in the week, Eileen prepares to leave for Thailand and packs the last of her things.

However, before she leaves, she drops a bombshell as she tells George that Todd found a copy of Archie’s will, which states that his sister Glenda is set to have half the business. As a stunned George peruses his father’s will, Todd does his best to play down its importance as he worries it might jeopardise his future. Will George tell Glenda the truth and if she finds out he lied, could this lead to a sibling feud?

It comes as Eileen’s exit to Thailand coincides with actress Sue Cleaver, who has played iconic character Eileen since 2000, taking on an exciting new role away from the soap. Sue, 60, is starring in Sister Act: The Musical, which is touring the UK this year, and so it seems this is why Eileen is being briefly written out of the show next week.
