Coronation Street rocked to the core as a dead body is found
Toyah Battersby’s (Georgia Taylor) life changes forever in Coronation Street when she reveals to Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) that she gave birth to a stillborn baby girl when she was 19 years old.
This new storyline, which is already being called controversial by viewers, will kick off when Toyah heads to the park to look for a missing Freddie the dog.
When she gets there, she finds a group of men digging up a rose bed. They reveal they saw Freddie digging in the same place, and believe Roy Cropper (David Neilson) buried Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) body there.
After hearing this, Toyah sees red, grabs a shovel and smashes their car window, all while a man from the group films her on his phone.
When Nick arrives, he manages to persuade Toyah to put the shovel down as she bursts into tears.
That afternoon, Toyah calls in the flower shop and purchases a single yellow rose and when Joel Deering (Calum Lill) asks who it’s for, Toyah lies and says she’s buying it for Leanne Battserby (Jane Danson).
In the week, when Joel asks Leanne if she liked her rose Toyah bought her, she quizzes her sister, who makes out that she binned it.
Toyah remains adamant she was right to defend Roy’s reputation, but Nick is left puzzled when she calls the location at the park ‘such a special place’.
Later, when Nick returns home, he finds Toyah in tears. She reveals to him that at 19, she gave birth to a stillborn baby girl, kept it a secret and buried her in the same place she found the sleuths digging up.
Toyah then takes a deep breath and admits to Nick that the baby’s father was Phil Simmonds, the man who raped her.
When Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) returns home, he then reveals the police are digging up North Cross Park and Bobby Donovan (Jack Carroll) reckons they’ve found a body.
Will this development put Toyah in trouble?
And will Leanne discover her sister’s secret?
