Coronation Street to air Eileen Grimshaw’s temporary exit
Eileen must sort out some drama beforehand.
Coronation Street is set to air Eileen Grimshaw’s temporary exit from the cobbles next week.
Last year, it was revealed that actor Sue Cleaver would be taking a short break from the soap in order to star in stage play Sister Act The Musical.
In new scenes airing next Friday (April 26), Eileen gears up to leave Weatherfield for Thailand, where her son Jason has broken his back. She packs up the rest of her things at No 11, though must sort out some drama before she departs.

Eileen recently learned that Todd Grimshaw had found an unseen copy of George Shuttleworth’s father Archie’s will, which states that his sister Glenda was meant to inherit half the business. She decides to reveal the truth about Todd’s knowledge to George.
Will she be able to resolve the situation before she heads abroad?
George actor Tony Maudsley recently said of the scenes: “[Eileen] says, ‘I want this sorted now!’ and she tells George that Todd has found this will, probably to appeal to George’s better nature, knowing that George will want to do the right thing.”
Sue has been playing the role of Mother Superior in Sister Act since last month as it tours the UK and Ireland, with the role set to be taken over by another actor soon.
“I’m thrilled to be stepping into the habit and joining the incredible company of Sister Act on tour,” the actor said previously.
“It’s been over 30 years since I’ve been on stage, but theatre has always been my first love. A chance to take on a role like this feels like heaven.”
