Coronation Street tragedy as Roy Cropper left to die in devastating prison collapse
It all becomes too much for Roy Cropper (David Neilson) in Coronation Street next week as he collapses in his cell.
Roy is currently behind bars for Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder. His friends and family are in the stressful position of trying to find a shred of evidence that proves he is innocent, fully aware that if time runs out, he could spend the rest of his life in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.
When Roy calls the cafe hoping to speak with Nina (Mollie Gallagher) in upcoming episodes, Shona (Julia Goulding) passes the phone to Carla (Alison King) but she hangs up, pretending it was a dodgy line.
Back in his cell, Roy has another flashback of Lauren. This time, she is seen approaching the counter in the cafe, and Roy notices there’s something odd about her clothes.
Roy’s chain of thought is lost due to a prison officer banging on the door. Back in Weatherfield, Bobby (Jack Crawford) tells Carla he reckons Roy must’ve kept quiet about the false statement.
In the prison visiting room, Nina explains to the prison officer that she’s waiting for Roy.
But just as the officer lets himself into Roy’s cell, he finds him collapsed on the floor.
Later in the week, Mary (Patti Clare) visits Roy in hospital.
When he reveals that he keeps trying to remember the details of a conversation he overheard between Lauren and Max (Paddy Bever), Mary urges him not to give up – if it’s of significance, it’ll come to him eventually.
During Roy’s latest meeting with Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown), he updates her about Lauren’s necklace. Roy suggests that if they can trace where it is from, they might be able to track her mystery boyfriend.
