Coronation Street’s Roy Cropper to offer new clue in Lauren murder plot
Will it prove important?
Coronation Street‘s Roy Cropper is set to offer a new clue in the Lauren Bolton disappearance plotline.
Roy has been behind bars since being arrested and charged with the murder of Lauren, as he was the last person to see her alive.
Scenes next week will see things get even worse for Roy when he collapses in his prison cell. The shock turn of events come after he experiences a flashback about a conversation between Lauren and Max Turner in the café that could have some significance.
In follow-on scenes set to air next Friday (May 3), Roy recovers in hospital after his collapse, and is sent back to jail to continue his time on remand once he is well enough.
However, Roy wants to keep fighting for his freedom and calls his lawyer Dee-Dee Bailey from prison.
During the conversation, he reveals that Lauren was wearing an expensive necklace before she disappeared, and suggests that if Dee-Dee can trace its origins they may be able to identify her mystery boyfriend and find a new suspect.
Will Dee-Dee find this useful to the case?
Roy actor David Neilson recently revealed that he was surprised that his character hadn’t spent time in custody before.
“He’s his own worst enemy!” he said on This Morning. “I mean, he needs support from himself, he puts himself there. I’m amazed that I [Roy] haven’t been in prison before because everyone else has!”
He added: “Roy is innocent in every respect, he is innocent of the crime, but he is also an innocent soul.
“He never thought for one minute it would come to this. He truly felt that if he simply answered everything honestly it would all be okay, and he was naïve to assume that being innocent meant that he would be seen to be innocent.”
