One user shared snaps taken from the third episode of the third series titled Bart the Murderer back in 1991. In the episode, Bart stumbles upon a Mafia club after having a bad day at school.

The owner of the bar, mobster Fat Tony, hires Bart as a bartender. When Principal Skinner goes missing after punishing him at school, the youngster suffers from terrifying nightmares.

The next day, he accuses his new boss of his involvement of the teacher’s disappearance, which certainly ruffles a few feathers. The following day, Bart is put on trial for Skinner murder, and it doesn’t look good for him.

Just when it seems that Bart is going to be found guilty, Skinner bursts into the courtroom and tells everyone he was trapped under a pile of newspapers in his garage the whole time. The user named TheJediSithMaster1 shared a collection of pictures taken from the beloved cartoon alongside pictures from the ITV soap as they pointed out the similarities.

Pictures of Principal Skinner’s missing poster was seen beside Lauren’s missing poster, in addition to snaps of Bart and Roy sitting in their cells. The final images were taken from Bart and Roy’s chilling nightmares. He captioned the post: “The Simpsons [have] already done it.”

It didn’t take long before viewers shared their surprise online, as one user commented: “The Simpsons are always one step ahead”. Another asked: “So did Roy Cropper rape and murder that girl?” to which the user pointed out: “Bart didn’t kill Skinner.”

It comes after suspicion shifted to new TV villain Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) who is set to return to Weatherfield in upcoming scenes. Viewers will remember the evil character was part of a gang that groomed young girls, including Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon).

He was eventually arrested and served a custodial sentence, but it appears he has somehow found his way out after ITV bosses confirmed his return to the soap. Viewers are certain Nathan is somehow linked to Lauren’s disappearance.

Before she vanished in January, the student had a mystery boyfriend who she was in contact with. Now viewers are convinced that Nathan was the man in question as they flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their suspicions online.

Daniel is set to be questioned and he’s going out with Bethany who Nathan first had an interest in #Corrie.”

A third echoed: “I’m worried for Bethany if Nathan returns and is revealed to have kidnapped Lauren #Corrie.” A fourth chimed in with: “We know Nathan Curtis is coming back – imagine if he is Lauren’s boyfriend? #corrie.”

Viewers will have to stay tuned to see what will happen to Roy and whether Lauren will ever return to the famous cobbles.
