Coronation Street will see one evil villain return to the cobbles next week after seven years and it could be good news for Roy Cropper.

In upcoming episodes, Bethany Platt is left horrified as her past comes back to haunt her as she spots Nathan Curtis in Weatherfield. Soap fans will recall that Bethany was groomed by evil Nathan before reporting him and his gang to the police. The dark storyline concluded with Bethany facing Nathan and the others in court, with him sent to prison.

However, next week it will be revealed that Nathan was released months ago and has been working on a building site near the precinct where teenager Lauren Bolton went missing. So far, innocent Roy has been arrested and charged for Lauren’s supposed murder but with Nathan back on the scene, Bethany is suspicious as she soon accuses him of murdering Lauren.

In the upcoming scenes, Roy is left gutted when his solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey tells him that the police have had no luck in tracing Lauren’s mystery boyfriend or her necklace after he had a flashback of her wearing the item so they are back to square one. Later in the week, the police do a reconstruction of Lauren’s last known movements as Bobby, Max, Bethany and Beth gather in the precinct to watch.

Upon looking at a crowd of people, Bethany is horrified to recognise evil abuser Nathan amongst them and she struggles to contain her emotions. Later, Daniel finds Bethany at home clearly distressed as she admits she is convinced she spotted Nathan at the precinct. However, Daniel isn’t convinced as he points out that Nathan is in prison and it must be her mind playing tricks.

Yet later in the week, Bethany is proven right when she pauses the video of the police reconstruction and zooms in to show Daniel a close-up of Nathan’s face. Wanting answers, Bethany heads to the police station where DS Swain confirms to Bethany that Nathan was released months ago. Bethany is left both furious and shocked over the bombshell as she demands they haul him in for questioning, convinced he’s Lauren’s murderer.

Later, after doing some research and discovering that Nathan is working on a building site near the precinct, Bethany and Daniel track him down. As Nathan rounds the corner, he stops in his tracks to see Bethany and she is shocked to come face-to-face with her abuser. It’s not long until Bethany sees red and she accuses Nathan of murdering Lauren. What will Nathan say, will the police question him and could this be good news for Roy?
