More bad news for Roy Cropper as Lauren Bolton’s murder case takes another very sour turn in Coronation Street
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) received even more bad news in recent Coronation Street scenes when Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder case took another sour turn.
Lauren has been missing for several weeks, and Roy is currently facing a long prison sentence for her murder, despite being innocent of the crime.
However, in recent scenes the cafe owner remembered something that he hoped would point police in the direction of the killer.
He was quick to tell them about the unique necklace that Lauren had been gifted by her boyfriend, and the police wasted no time in trying to track it down.
Solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) spread the news to Roy’s friends at the cafe, and the atmosphere was positive – until everything later came crashing down.
Dee-Dee was forced to break the news to Roy that the police had been unable to locate Lauren’s necklace, meaning that they had no way of tracing it back to where it was bought, and therefore they had no idea who bought it.
Though Roy was understandably disappointed, Dee-Dee assured him that she was doing everything she could to get him out.
Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) also tried to keep Roy positive by pointing out that it was one line of enquiry that had been closed, meaning that the police would be able to focus on others.
She also reminded him that they were holding the reconstruction of Lauren’s last known movements the following day, and pointed out that even if it didn’t jog someone’s memory, it proved that police were still looking for new evidence.
She reminded him that any new evidence they found wouldn’t point to him, so it could only be a good thing.
Is Nina right to remain positive, or is Roy’s – and Lauren’s – future looking grim?
