Coronation Street character says her goodbyes in sudden exit: ‘Have a nice life!’
Steve McDonald’s (Simon Gregson) heart has been broken in two yet again after prospective girlfriend Demi Mansfield (Lisa Shingler) walked out on him in Coronation Street.
He’s been unlucky in love ever since wife Tracy (Kate Ford) walked out on him for a new life in Spain with former footballer Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn).
The affair was exposed when Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) caught them in the act, and couldn’t keep it secret from his best pal. Steve was initially furious, but tried his best to win his true love back.
At one point, Tracy even accepted his proposal, but when she discovered he’d burnt a letter from Tommy inviting her to move away, she was quick to pack her bags and depart for pastures new.
Since then, Steve’s been on a lengthy journey to find himself a new woman, with little success.
A speed-dating night at the Rovers Return ended in misery, and when Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) invited him to the Chariot Square Hotel for a cocktail evening, his efforts to woo a lady were trumped by elderly father-in-law Ken Barlow (William Roache).
Poor Steve.
After launching himself into the world of online dating apps, he met Demi, and the pair seemed to hit it off from the outset. They even shared a mutual distaste for Tommy O.
However, it wasn’t long before she became aware of just how much Steve really disliked him, and he wouldn’t shut up about the affair and how angry he was that County were honouring him with a bust at their King’s Robes Arena.
Later, pictures on Tracy’s socials of her paragliding over the Med with Tommy became the topic of conversation, and Demi realised that he wasn’t over his ex.
Not only that, but Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) became obsessed with the fact she was an estate agent in the desirable Hale Barns area.
In tonight’s (20th May) episode, after not hearing from her in a while, Tim assured Steve that there was plenty more fish in the sea.
Steve, however, was convinced that Demi was his ‘prize halibut’ (his words, not ours!).
The two met up for a drink in the pub, but things quickly turned sour and she stood up, telling him to ‘have a nice life’ and walking out.
We’re truly devastated for him.
Is this the last we’ve seen of Demi?
