Case cracked? Unexpected person finds key clue to Lauren’s death – and two arrests follow in Coronation Street

Lauren Bolton stood in front of a dark and gloomy Roy's Rolls in Victoria Street, Coronation Street

Coronation Street’s Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan) has found some vital evidence relating to the disappearance of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) – but has chose to keep it secret.

A brief scene in tonight’s (28th May) episode saw Hope show a silver necklace to sister Ruby (Billie Naylor), who thought she should show it to their dad Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall).

Viewers of the ITV soap will remember that Roy Cropper (David Neilson), who is prime suspect in her murder investigation, has been having visions of Lauren wearing the necklace for weeks.

This plays directly into our previously reported theory that solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) could be the one who murdered the troubled teen.

A few months ago, Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) became suspicious after finding a receipt for an expensive jewellers that he dropped, with him claiming it was for a set of cufflinks he treated himself to – was it actually for the necklace?

The episode also saw detectives Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) crack down on potential lines of enquiry by arresting two key characters.

The first of these was vile paedophile Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper), whose arrest was briefly mentioned at the end of last night’s instalment.

Furious that her daughter’s rapist was strolling around the cobbles again, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) vowed to be the one who got rid of him.

Following an off the cuff comment made by her brother David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd), she was given food for thought and tracked down one of Lauren’s hair bobbles that had been left at the Platt residence whilst she was staying with them.

Her botched plan was to plant the crucial DNA in the back of Nathan’s van, but it wasn’t long before he discovered her lurking around the building site and their altercation was stumbled upon by Kit.

Kit sent Nathan on his way, and upon discovering what Sarah was planning to do, warned her to let the authorities take charge.

However, it later transpired that he’d went back to the building site and decided to search his vehicle – and found an envelope containing some USB drives in the glove compartment.

The stipulation of Nathan’s release was that he wouldn’t be in possession of such articles.

Elsewhere, Lisa met up with Roy to discuss the statement that Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) made about the intruder he supposedly saw at Lauren’s flat on the day she went missing.

Roy, of course, knows that the story has been fabricated to try and facilitate his release, and has since fallen out with Bobby’s aunt, his best friend Carla Connor (Alison King).

Lisa arrested Bobby on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and urged Carla to get him to come clean, as any further obstacles in the investigation could see Roy behind bars for the rest of his life.

This is turning out to be quite the busy week!
