Kelvin Fletcher has admitted that life on the family farm has been far from easy — and while he’s more committed than ever to the countryside, he has revealed one dream that could eventually take him far beyond the UK.
The former Emmerdale star and his wife, Liz Fletcher, have reflected on what they describe as the most challenging year since swapping television life for their 120-acre Cheshire farm.
During the latest episode of Fletcher’s Family Farm, the couple looked back on everything they have overcome while discussing what the future might hold for their growing family.
Sitting around a campfire with their four children, Liz asked Kelvin a simple but heartfelt question: “Are you happy with this life?”
Without hesitation, Kelvin replied that he has no doubts about the path they have chosen.

“Yes. I’m committed that this is the right thing for us,” he said.

He added that despite the daily challenges, he believes the family is exactly where they are meant to be.

“We’re absolutely on the right path. There’s no question that we just have to embrace it, live in the moment and be present.”Kelvin Fletcher announces 'end of an era' as he issues 'goodbye' message - AOL

A Bigger Dream Beyond Cheshire
Although Kelvin made it clear he remains fully committed to their farm, he also revealed a long-term ambition that has stayed with him for years.
“I would like a ranch in America one day,” he admitted.
Liz responded with her trademark humour, joking:

“I’d like to be in the Bahamas… but one step at a time.”

The idea isn’t entirely new. Before settling into farm life, the couple had seriously considered relocating to the United States, but those plans were ultimately put on hold when the COVID pandemic changed everything.
Their Toughest Year Yet
While viewers have watched the family transform their land into a thriving working farm, Kelvin and Liz admitted that the past 12 months have tested them more than ever.
Liz described it as their “most challenging year,” explaining that every setback ultimately helped them grow stronger.
“I feel like we’ve learned the most this year,” she said.
“I feel like we’ve come so far over the last 12 months.”
Despite the pressure, both agreed the experience has strengthened not only the farm but also their confidence in the lifestyle they have built together.
From Beginners to Real Farmers
Looking back on how far they’ve come, Kelvin reflected on the remarkable transformation since buying the property.
“What started with just a few sheep has grown into a real family farm,” he said.
Today, the Fletchers care for a growing flock of sheep, pigs, cattle and plenty of energetic children keeping them just as busy.
With a smile, Kelvin concluded:

“I think this year I finally feel confident saying we’ve got a farm, we’ve got a family farm, and this is what we do.”

“It’s safe to say we’re certainly on our way to becoming farmers.”
More Adventures Ahead
Fans clearly haven’t had enough of the Fletcher family’s countryside adventure.
ITV has already confirmed that two more seasons of Fletcher’s Family Farm are on the way, with both Series 5 and Series 6 officially commissioned.
Sharing their excitement, Kelvin and Liz said they were amazed by how much support the programme has received.
“What began as a simple way to share our family’s journey has become something much bigger than we ever imagined.”
For now, the family’s future remains firmly rooted in Cheshire—but if Kelvin’s dream eventually comes true, one day the Fletchers could swap English fields for the wide-open landscapes of an American ranch.
