Coronation Street icon set to return to ITV soap after fans spot chilling music link

Coronation Street fans could be set to see the return of one beloved character 10 years after she left the ITV soap, as fans fear for beloved café owner Roy Cropper

Coronation Street favourite Hayley Cropper (played by Julie Hesmondhalgh) is set to return to the ITV cobbles 10 years after she died on the ITV soap, AI claims.

Over the past few months fans have been gripped to their screens as the loveable Roy Cropper (David Nielson) attempts to clear his name after he was arrested for the murder of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). The stalwart was forced to move into Weatherfield Prison following the teenager’s disappearance earlier this year.

Since then, suspicion has fallen on her former tutor Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and convicted villain Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper). As the elderly businessman adjusts to life behind bars, he has been forced to make friends with some suspicious characters.

Most recently, the café owner met his cellmate Roscoe, who claims to be an old friend of Roy’s neighbour, Stu Carpenter. But spoilers have revealed that he will also bump into Lauren’s far-right maniac father Griff Reynolds when he returns to prison next week.

Coronation Street's Roy Cropper could reunite with one ITV icon

It’s not surprising that Roy has been sleepwalking again following the constant hounding from the police and his customers. As the loveable favourite struggles to cope behind bars, Daily Star has quizzed one of the world’s most popular artificially intelligent ‘creative’ tools, Gemini, to see what the future holds for him.

And it appears as though Roy could reunite with his late wife through the form of nightmares. Hayley sadly died on the street back in 2014 after she took her own life following her lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.

Since then, her character has never appeared on the show since, but that could be about to change. The online program told us: “It is possible that Hayley Cropper could return to Coronation Street in Roy’s hallucinations or nightmares.

“Soap operas are known for featuring fantastical elements, and characters returning from the dead or appearing in dreams is not uncommon.” But things are only about to get worse for Roy as fans excitedly prepare for the truth behind Lauren’s disappearance to be exposed.

Many viewers are convinced that Roy could die in prison after Griff is spotted sneaking a knife into Roy’s cell in ITV’s new nail-biting trailer. In the short clip, Lauren can be seen shouting for help in her flat, before a gloved hand comes to cover her mouth – and muffle her screams.

Griff threatens to “put Roy out of his misery” in a shocking scene. But there’s one aspect of the new trailer that has fans certain it’s the end for Roy – the classical music playing in the background.

One fan said it’s the same piece Roy’s wife Hayley died to after her cancer battle, writing on Instagram: “The music in this trailer is the piece Hayley died to, IF ROY DIES I SWEAR!”

Someone else posted: “Wait this is the same song Roy played for Hayley when she died… please nooooo.” The piece of music used in the background of both clips is Ralph Vaughan Willias’ The Lark Ascending, which originally played on a CD for Hayley when she drank her lethal cocktail of medicine to end her pain.

It was his late wife’s favourite piece – and fans think it could have a chilling connection to what happens next with Roy. Viewers will have to stay tuned to see what will happen to Roy when the truth comes out.
