Summer lovin’! Coronation Street teen’s new boyfriend is played by Hollywood star
As Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) returns to Coronation Street, she’s set to bring a surprise with her.
And no, we’re not talking about her new fringe.
Summer has been away from Weatherfield getting settled into life at a university in America.
Shortly after Summer was offered this placement, she felt apprehensive about leaving and wanted to stay and care for Paul (Peter Ash), who has motor neurone disease.
Sitting down for a chat, Paul and Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) told Summer that she should accept the uni placement and live her life, because Paul would be well-looked after by other members of his family while she’s away.
In upcoming episodes, she will return to see Billy and Paul, and will also reveal some news.
Summer will tell Billy and Paul that her new boyfriend Felix is waiting to meet them in the pub – and he’s played by a Hollywood star.
Robin Morrissey has starred alongside Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant and Halle Berry in the blockbuster film Cloud Atlas.
He has also featured in ITV’s The Tower, playing a character called Sergeant Fred Thompson. When it comes to the world of soaps, Robin has also portrayed Will Hurran, the nephew of Jimmi Clay in BBC One’s Doctors.
He has also starred in Apple Tree Yard and Little Crackers.
Elsewhere in these episodes, Paul and Billy attend another appointment with the MND nurse who tells them that as Paul’s weakened neck muscles get worse, he’ll soon reach a point where he cannot use the stair lift to the flat.
When Summer eventually arrives home and reveals the news about Felix, Paul and Billy will prepare to leave the flat and head to the pub, only for Paul to take a tumble down the stairs.
As Paul recovers, Todd (Gareth Pierce) turns up and Summer arrives with Felix.
How will the meeting go?
