His symptoms have become worse as the disease has progressed over recent weeks on Coronation Street.

And in upcoming episodes, Paul and Billy attend an appointment with the MND nurse, who tells them that as his weakened neck muscles get worse he won’t be able to use his stair lift to and from the flat.

Back at home, an Eyegaze specialist teaches Paul how to use his new equipment.

Meanwhile, Summer returns from America and reveals that she’s got a new boyfriend, Felix, and he’s waiting to meet them in the Rovers.

Billy and Paul are about to leave the flat when Paul falls down the stairs.

As Paul recovers, Todd turns up and Summer arrives with Felix. How will the meeting go?

Paul isn’t the only one to suffer a fall though, as Ken Barlow also causes panic among his family.

At Stu’s birthday drinks Bobby apologises to Ken for getting Daniel into trouble, but he notices Ken is unsteady on his feet.

Not feeling too well Ken heads home, before a concerned Bobby knocks on Ken’s door.

When there’s no reply, he peers through the letterbox and is shocked to see Ken lying at the bottom of the stairs and immediately calls an ambulance.

Later at the hospital, Ken is propped up in bed with Daniel and Steve by his side.

Ken is dismayed to discover he will need round the clock care whilst he recovers.

Steve assures him that the family will pull together and make sure he receives the care he needs to keep him safe in his own home.

Ken forces a smile but how will he cope with the news?
