ITV Coronation Street ‘work out’ truth behind character’s shock return from the dead
Coronation Street viewers were left stunned during Monday’s episode as Lauren Bolton made a shocking return to the cobbles. The teenager had mysteriously vanished from Weatherfield on February 23 after being fired by Roy Cropper from his café, Roy’s Rolls, and hadn’t been seen since.
Lauren was believed to be dead by the local police, with poor Roy ending up behind bars for her alleged ‘murder’. However, flashbacks revealed that Joel was Lauren’s secret lover and the one who had been tormenting her. It was shown that Joel had viciously attacked Lauren, leaving her for dead.
But in a dramatic twist during the latest visit to Weatherfield (July 8), Lauren appeared at Roy’s bedside as he battled for his life in hospital. After enduring abuse from thugs and the strain of prison life, Roy collapsed while paramedics fought to save him.
Roy required emergency heart surgery, with his loved ones anxiously awaiting news. But while Roy was connected to a ventilator, he received an unexpected visitor – Lauren, reports the Express.
Disguised in a hooded jacket that concealed her face, Lauren was spotted by Joel in the hospital waiting area. She removed her hood, revealing her identity, looking distraught as she saw Roy’s life hanging in the balance.
As the episode came to a close, Lauren tearfully told Roy she was “so sorry”, leaving viewers on tenterhooks about what will happen next.
Corrie fans are all mystified, asking – is Lauren actually a figment of Roy’s imagination. One eagle-eyed viewer noted on X: “Maybe Lauren’s an angel or apparition in Roy’s comatosed brain #Corrie.”
Another fan weighed in: “Great to see Cait Fitton alive and well! But we know people will tell Roy he was hallucinating.”
Yet another input came from a fan who queried: “#Corrie is Lauren really back or is it more likely Roy is dreaming/hallucinating after his heart attack? “.
One more fan asked: “I guess it’s Lauren who was using Bethany’s card…unless we’re just made to believe she’s alive, and she’s only a figment of Roy’s imagination? #Corrie.”
