ITV Coronation Street downfall ‘sealed’ as fans predict wedding disaster for Joel Deering

Soap viewers finally discovered what really happened to Lauren as she emerged from the woodwork this Tuesday. However, fans are also expecting Joel Deering's imminent downfall.

Coronation Street has confirmed Lauren was still alive and pregnant with Joel's baby. How will she get revenge on him?

Coronation Street fans are hopeful that Joel Deering’s comeuppance is round the corner after Lauren Bolton finally returned to the cobbles, alive.

The wayward teen portrayed by Cait Fitton has been missing since earlier this year, as she vanished from Weatherfield under mysterious circumstances and when blood spatters were discovered in her flat, it didn’t take the authorities very long to assume she’d been murdered.

However, Lauren herself proved them wrong, as ITV viewers expected her to make an explosive comeback. The troubled character returned to Corrie as she paid a visit to a bed-ridden Roy Cropper, who was once wrongly suspected of murdering her.

Tuesday’s trip to the Weatherfield cobbles lifted the lid on the events that led to Lauren vanishing from the Street, revealing that the 19-year-old had actually left of her own accord, in a desperate attempt to get away from her tormentor, Joel (played by Calum Lill). But in yet another jaw-dropping twist, Lauren also dropped a bombshell, as the duty solicitor found out she was five months pregnant with his baby.

Viewers at home were stunned as they reflected on the revelations – and what was ahead for both Lauren and Joel as they predicted a shock murder was in the works, particularly as the solicitor is keen to walk down the aisle with Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown).

One TV watcher wrote over on X, otherwise known as Twitter: “Lauren’s going to rock up and Joel and DeeDee’s wedding like “SURPRISE! your fiancée tried to kill me.. oh and I’m having his baby. HAPPY WEDDING DAY.” Another suggested: “So that’s an Xmas Day wedding for Joel & Dee Dee where everything will come to light”, to which one soap fan responded: “So by that time Lauren would have had her baby, November-December.” A TV fan jumped in: “honestly my heart DROPPED when that hand slide into the doorway of the lift but i’m so so glad she got away from him see you at the wedding hun.”

Lauren actress Cait Fitton admitted that she went to extreme lengths to hide her return from the long-running show, after her character became the talk of social media with fans eager to find out if Lauren was really dead. Speaking about filming her scenes with Joel actor Calum Lill, she remembered: “I had to sneak in and out the building, getting lifts from Calum but having to get in the boot to make sure I wasn’t being seen.” And she also made sure nobody on social media would know about Lauren’s surprise comeback.
